2024 Cadillac XT5 Overview

What’s New

  • In 2024, a lot will be the same.
  • A member of the first version of the XT5 in 2017.

The XT5 might be a good choice if the XT4 is too small for you and you don’t need all three rows of seats in the XT6. Even though it’s a medium luxury SUV, its small size makes it more of a tweener. The XT5 is bigger and costs about the same as small competitors like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. On the other hand, it is smaller and costs less than midrange competitors like the Genesis GV80. Even though it has some problems, the XT5 does better than its rivals. The most likely year it will end is 2024.

There have been rumors that the XT5 may not be made anymore in the US after 2024, but this has yet to be officially proven. The next version of the Cadillac XT5 is being made, but it will only be sold in China for now. Cadillac wants to be an all-electric brand by 2030, so the company is cutting down on the number of gas-powered cars it sells. The XT5 and the new Optiq electric SUV are about the same size, and the Optiq could take the place of the XT5 in Cadillac’s SUV range. The Lyriq SUV is Cadillac’s only electric car right now. But in 2024, the Celestiq sedan and Escalade IQ will join it.

The XT5 has remained the same since it came out in 2017. Since then, most of its rivals have gone through major redesigns to make them more competitive. For this reason, it is smart to look into the XT5’s rivals, like the newly redesigned Lexus RX, which is the same size and price. Even though the Genesis GV80 costs less, you should still consider getting it if you want something a little roomier and fancier. The BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC are two other small cars that are worth looking at.

Pros

  • The front and back have enough room for your head and legs.
  • Compared to other midsize SUVs, this one is cheap.

Cons

  • It’s hard to see in the back because of the small windows and mirrors.
  • There is little room in the house to store small things.
  • More room to load things for a midsize SUV.
  • From the outside, the house is very noisy.

What kind of drive does the XT5 have? The Cadillac XT5 works well enough to drive every day. We tried the V6 model with all-wheel drive. The V6 engine is strong, but to start it, you’ll need to press down hard on the gas pedal. Test for us. Invoice Pricing tests showed that the XT5 could reach 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, which is about average for a medium luxury SUV. It’s easy to shift, and the transmission will downshift when it needs to.

It takes teamwork and cooperation for the XT5 to turn. It’s different than the kind of SUV that looks for winding roads, but it does a good job when it finds them.

Does the XT5 feel good? The other cars in this competitive luxury class are more comfy than the XT5. The nicest things about it are the smooth ride and comfy seat. When going on normal trips, the ride is stable and smooth, and the front seats are very adjustable and give good support.

It takes a while to set up the three-zone temperature control, but it is a useful feature. The same goes for seats that are warm or cooled. Strangely, the XT5 should be more quiet, especially when it’s going slowly. In different parts of town, you might hear light wind noise, squeaky interior panels, and engine accessory drive sounds.

How is the state of the inside? The settings are simple and easy to use, and the inside looks nice. The 8-inch tablet in Cadillac is too small for a high-end car right now. The gadget is easier to use because it has a menu and power knobs, but some buttons don’t always work.

The XT5’s design makes it hard to see out of, especially through the small back window and three-quarter view from the back. The XT5 has great safety features like blind-spot warning and back cross-traffic alert. Also, the front of the XT5 has a lot of head and legroom, but the inside feels like it could be more roomy, especially at the knees.

What’s wrong with the tech? The XT5’s technology and entertainment are good for a car in its class. One example is the available 14-speaker Bose music system, which sounds clear and loud, and pairing a Bluetooth device is easy and quick. Furthermore, the XT5 comes with an adequate number of charging ports for your gadgets.

Because the stock voice directions could be more useful, we suggest connecting your phone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Many of Cadillac’s advanced safety features are free, but some, like adaptive cruise control, will cost you extra.

What’s going on with storage? The main cargo area of the XT5 folds flat and has enough room for most things. It has one of the roomiest interiors of any midsize luxury SUV, with two rows of seats. The liftover height for the storage floor is too high. You can set the opening height of the electric liftgate.

For some reason, there isn’t much room for small things, especially near the cottage’s door. The center panel is bigger than it really is, and the door pockets aren’t very big. There are cupholders in the front and back that are just big enough for a Coke can. Even though the anchors are pretty deeply hidden in the gaps between the seats, it’s still easy to get to the car seat. Even with the extra tow package, it can only pull up to 3,500 pounds, which is less than the norm.

How much fuel does it use? EPA estimates say that the Cadillac XT5 AWD with V6 gets 21 mpg on the highway, which isn’t very good for a small or midsize crossover SUV. On our real-world drive test route, our test XT5 got an average of 20.2 mpg. It will likely be about there, so the EPA’s predictions should come true.

How much is the XT5 worth? Adding more options to the XT5 may make it cost a lot more, but this is normal for high-end SUVs. The XT5 is worth some money when you look at what it comes with. The materials inside feel better than in previous generations, and the outside looks a little more high-end, but they still need to be better than those in most of its European rivals. The warranty is about the same as those for other goods.

The XT5 is a nice-looking SUV that looks like Cadillac made it in the past. The updated XT6 looks a lot more modern, but it’s still the same as the XT5. Cadillac wants this to make people think of a classy car. Being able to drive this SUV faster is fun, and it’s good during the day.

It is better to choose the Premium Luxury trim because it has more basic features than the base Luxury trim and comes with a few more packages that the Luxury trim does not. There is also a choice to add a V6 engine to the Premium Luxury model. For more high-tech features, we suggest the Technology package. However, it would help if you also had the Driver Assist or luxurious Platinum deals.

Different types of the Cadillac XT5

Starting in 2024, Cadillac’s midsize luxury SUV, the XT5, will have two rows of seats that can fit five people. There are three types of trim for the XT5: Sport, luxury, and elite luxury. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque comes standard with the Luxury and Premium Luxury models. A 3.6-liter V6 engine with 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque comes standard with the Premium Luxury and Sport models. The automatic gearbox has nine speeds and is built into both engines. The Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels come with front-wheel drive as standard. All-wheel drive can be added as an extra. All-wheel drive is built into the Sport.
