2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overview

What’s new:

  • Most things will probably still be pretty much the same by 2025.
  • It was first shown in 2022 and is from the fifth generation of Grand Cherokees.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the few SUVs that can truly offer comfort, off-road speed, and utility all in one package. It’s strong and capable enough to get you in and out of rough terrain, but it’s also roomy and comfy enough to use every day. The Grand Cherokee is already one of a kind because of this, but it also comes with three engine choices. The 4xe plug-in hybrid is one of them, and Invoice has more information on it. Do you need more room? An SUV with three-row seating is this.

There are a lot of ways to customize the Grand Cherokee. There are currently nine models available, and most of them have up to three rows of seats and four-wheel drive. In other words, you can make your Grand Cherokee fit your needs, from the Laredo A, which is the most basic people carrier, to the Summit Reserve, which is the most luxurious and full of features.

There are few straight competitors for the Grand Cherokee because it’s both a luxurious and off-road-ready car. Consider looking at the Ford Bronco or the Grand Cherokee if you don’t need as much space. It costs about the same and can do the same things. Its beauty makes up for its lack of wealth. The Lexus GX, which just came out, is another choice. It’s a bit more expensive than the Jeep, but it has nicer features and is based on the Land Cruiser, which has a long history of going off-road.

What do they like to live with?

Because Invoice does long-term testing, our writers drove the plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee 4xe for 20,000 miles over a year.

Pros

  • Strong ability to pull.
  • A great range of modern driver aids, both stock and optional.
  • Off-road performance is better than most other medium SUVs.

Cons

  • Strange button design.
  • The materials used inside look beautiful in pictures, but they don’t stand out when you see them in person.

How do you get a Grand Cherokee to go? The basic V6 engine could be more interesting. In our tests, it took an eight-second jump from 0 to 60 miles per hour for a midsize SUV with five seats. The 4xe plug-in hybrid engine moves much faster. The brakes are good because they make stopping easy and safe. We really like the light but accurate driving.

The Grand Cherokee is not very athletic. It’s not an uncomfortable SUV, but it doesn’t grip well and isn’t fun to drive. The Grand Cherokee is better off-road than most medium crossover SUVs, which is good news.

How does it feel to ride in the Grand Cherokee? This is the Grand Cherokee’s most popular type. The front seats are very comfy, even on long trips. The air suspension choice makes the ride smooth and comfortable by absorbing bumps in the road without being too soft or floaty.

Our Grand Cherokee can have temperature control set to four different zones. It keeps the temperature where you set it well, but the airflow was lower than we wanted it to be, even with the fans running at full speed. One thing the Grand Cherokee could have done better was make too much noise on the highway for a high-end SUV.

How is the state of the inside? The Grand Cherokee’s bedroom isn’t the biggest in its class, but it’s still got a lot of room. The second row of seats can be lowered so that people up to six feet tall can sit comfortably. Unfortunately, the Grand Cherokee rides pretty high, so you’ll have to take a big step to get inside. We also noticed that the Grand Cherokee’s wide front pillars and side view mirrors sometimes made it harder to see what was ahead of us. Getting a surround-view camera system might help you park without having to guess as much.

Most of the settings are easy to use, but there are a few small knobs and buttons that are in the wrong place. Also, at some angles, direct sunlight can make the labels on some touch-sensitive gadgets impossible to read.

What’s wrong with the tech? Jeep’s newest entertainment system, Uconnect 5, can be found in the Grand Cherokee. The pictures are great, and the built-in mapping system helps you find your way by showing you where to go each step of the way. On the other hand, we found that when the screen is upright, straight sunlight can sometimes shine through. The 19-speaker McIntosh surround-sound system in our test car played music clearly and richly, which we liked.

Standard features include a crazy number of USB ports and built-in smartphone capabilities. Our other favorite thing about the Grand Cherokee is its full set of cutting-edge safety features. For instance, adaptive cruise control slows down and speeds up slowly, and the lane-keeping system works great with a few sudden adjustments.

What’s going on with storage? Behind the second row of seats, the Grand Cherokee can hold an average of 37.7 cubic feet of stuff, which is good for a large SUV. One car that has 40.3 cubes is the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. It’s also easy to carry big things because the back seats can split and fold flat. For some, the pretty high load-in height may be the only thing that stops them.

In the first and second rows, there are many cupholders and large storage spaces in the center console for small things. In the back, there is plenty of room for car seats. The seats on the sides have two sets of pins that are easy to reach through beautiful leather flaps.

The Grand Cherokee can pull up to 6,200 pounds, which is more than most cars can do.

How much fuel does it use? The EPA says that the Grand Cherokee gets 22 mpg on average, which is better than average for a big SUV. We have tested in the field and found that the EPA’s claims are true.

Is the Grand Cherokee’s price fair? The Grand Cherokee has an extremely large share of the market. The base level of the Grand Cherokee is reasonably priced, but it has less kit than many of its competitors. Then, some versions come fully loaded, like the one we looked at. It’s priced like a luxury car, even though the inside is surprisingly nice and has high-end features that aren’t common in this class. Regardless, the situation is not favorable. People who are willing to spend a lot of money will probably choose a luxury brand, but people who are trying to save money will definitely look for more value than entry-level models offer. It also felt more solidly put together than we thought it would for the price.

Jeep’s basic warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, and the powertrain and roadside help warranties last for five years, or 60,000 miles.

The Grand Cherokee has the Jeep brand cachet that many people have come to expect, whether it’s the intimidating exterior, the possible V8 engine, or the fact that it can haul more and go off-road better than other Jeeps. There aren’t many design flaws, but it’s not the best midsize SUV.

As of this writing, Jeep hasn’t said anything public about the 2025 Grand Cherokee yet. We still like the Limited better, but we’ll change our ranking if anything changes since we saw the Grand Cherokee last year. After that, the price went up a lot, and the Limited had nicer features like a bigger tablet, heated front and back seats, and a leather interior. Additionally, it lets you access more extra premium features without a big price jump.

Different kinds of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a large SUV that comes in five main trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, and Summit. The trims are usually set up in a ladder shape, with higher levels adding more features to the trims below them. The Summit Reserve, Altitude X, and Laredo X are some of the other trims. The Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid is the only one offered, but the off-road-focused Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is still there.
