2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overview

What’s new:

  • Nothing significant will occur in 2024.
  • The next Grand Cherokee, its fifth generation, will debut in 2022.

Going into the wild doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort, style, or refinement, as seen by the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This midsize SUV boasts two rows of seats, can go off-road, and has a sturdy body that can withstand difficult driving conditions. This alone makes the Grand Cherokee stand out from the crowd, but it also comes with three distinct engine options, one of which is the 4xe plug-in hybrid discussed in a different Invoice Pricing piece. Do you require an additional room? A third option is the Grand Cherokee L, which has enough for seven passengers.

We anticipate that the Grand Cherokee will remain the same for the 2024 model year, given the last major redesign was in 2022. Because it performs better on the street than off-road, it will likely remain in the same class as vehicles like the Honda Passport and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. The three-row Honda Pilot was revamped just last year and now offers an off-road version with similar muscle to the Grand Cherokee, so it wouldn’t surprise us to see similar enhancements in the new Passport.

Serious off-roaders who choose the rugged Ford Bronco or something from Land Rover that costs far more will have to sacrifice comfort and on-road stability. The Jeep Grand Cherokee 2024 is recommended as it is reasonably priced, practical, and aesthetically pleasing.

Pros

  • Multiple powerful engine options are available.
  • Modern driver assistance features both as standard equipment and as optional extras.
  • It has more excellent off-road capability than the majority of midsize SUVs.

Cons

  • A confusing arrangement of buttons
  • Some features of interior design photograph exceptionally well yet fall short in the actual world.

Drive quality of the Grand Cherokee? We put the Grand Cherokee’s optional V8 engine through its paces, and it delivers the extra power you’d expect. The Grand Cherokee V8 we tested accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in under 6.5 seconds, providing it plenty of power when it was needed. It’s the quickest vehicle since it boasts a more straightforward and faster automatic transmission and two additional cylinders in the engine.

We put this to the test. The Jeep could stop at roughly 115 feet from 60 miles per hour due to its reliable and straightforward brakes. The simple and precise steering is another plus. The Grand Cherokee has poor manoeuvrability in tight turns. It could handle better and be more fun to drive, even though it’s not a vast, cumbersome SUV. However, the Grand Cherokee’s off-road prowess more than makes up for this shortcoming. The Jeep Wrangler is the best midsize SUV on the market when equipped with the Quadra-Trac II 4WD system and the adjustable air suspension.

The Grand Cherokee is a luxurious vehicle. The Grand Cherokee excels in this respect. Both the front and rear outboard seats may be heated or cooled, making even long rides more bearable in the show. The added air suspension smooths out bumps, making the ride even more comfortable without giving the car a sloppy, floaty appearance.

There are four temperature settings available in our Grand Cherokee. It moved less air than we’d hoped, even when the fans were at full speed, but it did a respectable job of maintaining the desired environment. The Grand Cherokee was not perfect since it was too loud on the freeway for a luxury SUV.

Just how is the inner condition? The Grand Cherokee’s bedroom could be more spacious in its class, but it’s still quite roomy. The second row, which can be reclined, comfortably accommodates people up to 6 feet in height. The Grand Cherokee has a lofty seating position, so you must take a solid step into the vehicle. The Grand Cherokee’s massive front pillars and side view mirrors also impeded our field of vision. Invest in a camera system that provides 360 degrees of coverage to simplify parking.

Most of the controls are intuitive despite a few awkwardly placed buttons and tiny dials. The sun can also make it difficult to see the labels on touch-sensitive buttons if facing directly into the light.

How reliable is the technology, exactly? Jeep offers their Grand Cherokee with their Uconnect 5 GPS. The car’s built-in navigation system features intuitive icons and detailed directions. However, we did discover that the screen’s straight design is more susceptible to glare in direct sunlight. Our test vehicle was equipped with a 19-speaker McIntosh surround-sound system, which produced rich and clear sound.

Connectivity to a smartphone and an abundance of USB ports are now taken for granted. Our fully loaded test vehicle featured 12 USB outlets. The new driving aids in the Grand Cherokee are practical and plentiful, which we appreciate. The adaptive cruise control modulates speed smoothly, and the lane-keeping function is quite effective without requiring the driver to make any jarring adjustments.

Do you have any plans to put things away? The Grand Cherokee has the standard space for a midsize SUV, 37.7 cubic feet, behind the second row of seats. The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, for instance, has 40,3 cubic inches of space. The rear seats can be folded and removed entirely to accommodate oversized cargo. Some folks could be deterred only by the load-is relatively high height.

The numerous cupholders and considerable bins in the centre console provide ample storage space for passengers in the first and second rows. There’s a lot of room in the back. Beautiful leather flaps conceal the chair’s external supports.

The Grand Cherokee is unrivalled in its class, with a maximum towing capability of 6,200 pounds for the V6 engine and 7,200 pounds for the V8 engine.

How efficient is its utilisation of gas? The Grand Cherokee’s V6 engine and 4WD system allow it to get better than 22 mpg highway fuel economy—a large SUV. There is also a plug-in hybrid option for the Grand Cherokee. Our V8-powered test vehicle means we must recognize that fact while evaluating the region. With the V8 and 4WD, the EPA estimates 17 mpg for the Grand Cherokee. On our typical evaluation route, which included primarily highway driving, our test vehicle averaged 17 mpg. This indicates that our average fuel economy while driving should be at most 17 mpg. So, save up for your gas costs.

Should I invest in a Jeep Grand Cherokee? The Jeep Grand Cherokee is available in a huge variety of markets. The Grand Cherokee’s starting price is comparable to its rivals, but it only comes equipped with some of the most basic safety and convenience amenities. Also available are stripped-down models like the one we tested. It’s expensive for a car of its class, but the inside is pleasantly roomy and full of high-end touches. It’s not a good fit either way. People on a tight budget will desire better quality than what budget models can provide, while those with more disposable income will almost surely choose for a premium label. In addition, we expected better quality from the build, given the pricing. However, we do not anticipate that the vast majority of consumers will be interested in the Grand Cherokee’s optional V8 or improved off-road capabilities.

The Jeep guarantee is about par for the course. The warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, and it includes roadside assistance and an engine warranty that lasts for five years or 60,000 miles.

Many individuals have an affinity for the Jeep brand, and the Grand Cherokee is no exception. This may be due to the vehicle’s imposing appearance, its available V8 engine, or its exceptional towing and off-road skills. It may not be the ideal midsize SUV, but it looks lovely.

As of this writing, Jeep had not made any official announcements on the 2024 Grand Cherokee. Based on the Grand Cherokee from the previous year, we advise most consumers to go with the Limited trim level in the middle. Comfort and convenience features, such as a larger tablet and GPS, set it apart from the Laredo. Customers interested in travelling may be more drawn to the Trail hawk or Overland trim levels.

Versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee

Laredo, Limited, Trail hawk, Overland, and Summit are just some of the available trim options for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a midsize sport utility vehicle. The higher up on the “ladder” of cuts you go, the more value you get.
