A plug-in hybrid engine that is stronger. Extra often occurring traits. The P530 First Edition model is no longer being made. A part of the third version of Range Rover Sport, which will come out in 2023. The Land Rover Range Rover SUV is huge, but the Range Rover Sport is a smaller, cheaper form of it. The two cars look, feel, and have very similar engines, but the Sport has less room for cargo and people in the back seats. Believe the name “Sport”; the Range Rover Sport, like its bigger brother, is made for luxury rather than handling. Like most Land Rovers, though, it has a luxurious interior and good off-road capabilities. There is a new speed version called SV added in 2024, and the plug-in hybrid powertrain gets more power. Last year, the model was updated and made public. Choose the Autobiography or the brand-new SV Edition One if you want more power and economy. Both the SE and SE Dynamic models have enough power and economy. The Sport’s performance option is the SV Edition One. It has a 626-horsepower turbocharged V8 engine that can speed the luxury SUV to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. For better speed, there are also Brembo brakes, lightweight forged 23-inch wheels, an SV drive mode, and a new adaptive air suspension system called 6D Dynamics. The Autobiography only has a plug-in hybrid engine, which now has 542 horsepower after adding 108 horsepower this year. It also has a long all-electric range—about 53 miles. The Range Rover Sport is a beautiful SUV that has a unique look, a lot of comfort and technology, and great off-road capabilities. If you want an SUV that handles better or costs less, check out its rivals. The Mercedes-Benz GLE, the BMW X5, the Genesis GV80, and the Porsche Cayenne all come in performance forms as well as sporty coupe styles. Pros vs Cons Pros There are four types of powertrains, one of which is a plug-in hybrid. The inside is very nice and has a lot of technology. Easy to read. Like the well-known Range Rover, but less expensive. Cons It is slower on the road and more fun to drive than some other models. There needs to be more space inside for small things. Pricey compared to others in the same field. Performance How do you drive a Range Rover Sport? The Range Rover Sport comes with a standard six-cylinder engine, a plug-in hybrid engine, and a powerful turbocharged V8 engine. The P400 engine in our test car had 395 horsepower, which is in the middle of the range. It took 5.8 seconds to get to 60 mph on the Edmunds test track, which is good for a high-end SUV. You may feel like the car is moving slowly when you step on the gas unless you’re in the fast Dynamic drive mode. Other than that, the engine seems strong at high speed, and the power delivery is smooth. Even though it’s called the Range Rover Sport, it could be more sporty when it comes to turning. The stability control system kicks in quickly at low speeds, and it doesn’t have any grip. The Range Rover Sport leans in turns and sinks a little when you hit the brakes because the suspension isn’t set up very strongly. The Range Rover’s steering is less exact than that of its rivals. On the plus side, Land Rover’s reliable all-wheel-drive system makes it more capable, and the air suspension can be raised for better off-road clearance. Comfort How does the Range Rover Sport make you feel? When you buy something from Range Rover, you expect it to be comfortable, but the newest Range Rover Sport isn’t. It’s not that it’s painful. The seats in both rows are well-cushioned and provide enough support. People in both rows should change the position of their seatbacks, which can be done in the back. Also, it’s usually pretty quiet inside; the only sounds that come in are the wind and traffic. But the ease of the ride needs to be better. The Range Rover Sport’s air suspension would smooth out most road bumps. It didn’t happen. There will be more road noise than you would expect from a luxury SUV, but the fillings won’t rattle from dips and bumps. The huge 23-inch wheels on our test car are definitely to blame. Because the sidewall is higher, we suggest that you stick with the normal 21-inch wheels. The temperature control system is another letdown. The air conditioner turns off when the engine’s stop-start feature is used at a red light, and the fans are loud, even though the settings are simple to use. Interior How is the state of the inside? The screen in the Range Rover Sport is big enough and low enough that it doesn’t get in the way of your view out the window. The resolution is still clear, but it could be more responsive than some of its rivals. Land Rover has thankfully taken the climate settings out of the infotainment system, even though the touchscreen is the main way to interact with it. To change the temperature, fan speed, and heated seats, you can turn, push, or pull on two buttons. The Sport’s air suspension can be changed to lower it, which makes getting in and out easier. There is plenty of room in both seats. The vertical windows and relatively thin roof pillars make it easy to see in all directions, and the driver stands tall and authoritatively. The heated windshield option was on our test car. Even though it works well in cold weather, some drivers say the small heater parts are annoying. Technology What’s wrong with the tech? Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come with strong device communication features. A wireless charging pad and a few USB-C and USB-A ports spread out across both rows make it possible to link wirelessly. The Range Rover Sport has an easy-to-use guidance system built in. One bad thing about this SUV is that its voice controls are less full and responsive to spoken language than those in other high-end SUVs. The Range Rover Sport comes with a lot of features that make driving easier, like blind-spot warning, adaptive cruise control, and surround-view cams—the methods for stopping and keeping the gap open work great. The safety systems did not make any mistakes or slow down the car for no reason. Storage What’s going on with storage? There are 31.9 cubic feet of room behind the second row of seats in the Range Rover Sport. There are 53.0 cubic feet of space when the 40/20/40-split folding back seats are taken out. Those are average numbers for the class; Mercedes and BMW have more space in the back. The hatch has a button that lowers the air suspension, which makes it easier to load and unload goods. You don’t have to rush to find manual release handles because the seats can be folded or raised with the push of a button. At first, there is less storage space available. Even though it’s deep, the center console’s tiny hole limits what can be put inside. Before you can get to the bigger bin, you have to take the drinks out of the slide cupholders. This is what we think: the style needs to be corrected. It shouldn’t be hard to put in and take out a car seat. The air suspension and neatly placed rear anchors make everything easier to climb. Fuel Economy How much fuel does it use? If you don’t count the possible plug-in hybrid engine, the EPA says the Range Rover Sport gets between 18 and 21 mpg on average. This is based on the engine you pick. The P400 inline-six engine that came with our SE Dynamic gets about 21 mpg on the highway. That’s about the average for the class. Our mixed-driving test route got us 20.2 mpg, which could have been better since most of the cars we tried met or beat their EPA combined estimates. Value Is the price of the Range Rover Sport fair? One of the most expensive SUVs on the market right now is the Range Rover Sport. But you’ll have to pay for having a good time. Thanks to its simple design and use of high-end materials for the center console, doors, and dash trim, the inside feels and looks better than most rivals. It doesn’t feel cheap at all, and the leather is nice and soft. Land Rover, on the other hand, costs more for the Range Rover Sport than Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and other brands. The competitors’ basic features are pretty much the same as ours, but our price can’t be beat. Land Rovers have a basic guarantee that lasts for four years and 50,000 miles on the main parts of the car. Protecting against rust on the Sport is good for six years and as many miles as you want. It also comes with emergency assistance for four years or 50,000 miles. Plus, some brands come with a few free organized service calls on top of everything else. Wildcard More than ever, the third-generation Range Rover Sport looks a lot like the full-size Range Rover. The interior style isn’t boring, but it isn’t as fancy as some of the other options. It’s clean and buttoned up, not flashy, and has a big, scary nose. The Range Rover Sport still has the high-end feel we’ve come to expect from Range Rovers, even though the brand as a whole is bigger than ever. This takes away some of the appeal and rarity of the brand. A poor driving experience, on the other hand, makes it less appealing. The Range Rover Sport is one of the most comfortable cars to drive off-road, but it’s not fun to drive on the street because the suspension is too soft, and there needs to be more input. Sure, the Sport is a nice cruiser, but it has a different level of daily appeal than its rivals. What is Invoice Pricing 's Recommendation? Most people who want to buy a luxury SUV will be happy with the standard P360 SE model. But if you want an expensive SUV like the Range Rover Sport, look at the more stylish and powerful P400 SE Dynamic. Along with the long list of normal features that come with the base model, our suggested trim gives you a big power boost and a unique look that sets it apart from the base model. To make handling better, add the Stormer Handling Pack and the panoramic sunroof, which is a possibility.
