2025 Lexus IS Overview

What’s new:

  • By 2025, a lot is likely to have stayed the same.
  • A part of the third model, Lexus IS, came out in 2014.

The 2025 Lexus IS is the brand’s most fuel-efficient car, and it’s meant to be an entry-level model. There are some great things about the IS. The ride is easy and enjoyable, and it handles very well. We really like how nice the Lexus seats are and how much better they are value-wise than all of its German rivals. The only bad things about it are the small back seats and the average entertainment system.

It looks like the IS is new, but it’s actually more than ten years old. In 2014, the new IS’s governing body was put in place. It’s so old that the BMW 3 Series has had two brand-new cars in the two years that Lexus has been working on the same IS platform. The IS will likely help you if that’s okay. There are no plans to release any updates in the near future. It looks like the 2025 model year will remain the same.

Everyone wants to be the first to make the 2025 Lexus IS. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a technological wonder, but the BMW 3 Series is a sedan that can do more. Both of these cars, though, are much more expensive than the IS, and that price difference grows when you add extras. One thing that none of the German cars have is the IS’s V8 power from the IS 500 form. It’s only possible to get a V8 in a small car, and that’s a Lexus.

Pros

  • Pleasant front seats and a smooth ride.
  • Simple and quick to use.
  • The IS 500’s V8 engine sounds good.
  • German alternatives have fewer functions for the price.

Cons

  • It’s tight in the back seat of the classroom.
  • The acceleration of six-cylinder types is weak.
  • There is little room for storage and goods.

What makes the IS do what it does? The Lexus IS 350 F Sport was put through tests. A weak engine lets down this fun and quick racing car. Invoice Pricing testing showed that our rear-wheel-drive test car went from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. In this class, even the base four-cylinder models of the fastest cars are much faster than that. Positively, this naturally aspirated V6 engine makes power regularly and easily from idle to redline. The transmission changes ratios all the time, but it does so quickly and easily.

The IS’s handling, brakes, and steering are all much better than its engine. The quick driving and suspension of this luxury sedan make it feel lively and quick. The suspension is firm enough to keep the car on the ground but not so stiff that mid-corner bumps upset it. The adjustable suspension and limited-slip differential were not standard on our test car, but you need them to get the most out of the IS 350’s sporty features.

How comfortable do you think the IS is? We looked at an IS 350 F Sport that had adjustable suspension as an option. Because of this, the IS rides tighter, but not so tight that it hurts when you hit bumps. Even though they don’t have as many changes as some other luxury cars, the front seats are very well made and will feel good right away. The chairs and temperature control system keep you warm and cool pleasantly. The F Sport’s extra summer tires make a little more noise than we’d expect from a Lexus, but the car is still pretty quiet.

How is the state of the inside? The driving position is great, with good vision all around and controls that are easy to reach. However, the back seat is still one of the smallest in its class. Adults may find it hard to get in and out, and people taller than six feet may not like it. It can be not very pleasant to use the infotainment system’s touchpad controller to switch between different on-screen menus and buttons. The touchscreen on the display, on the other hand, is a handy option.

What’s wrong with the tech? The infotainment system’s touchscreen display easily controls the audio system, navigation, standard Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Voice prompts on the IS are possible, but they are not as flexible as those on other systems in the same category.

The IS comes with a number of driving assistance features, such as automatic high beams, lane assistance, and adaptive cruise control. On top of that, blind-spot alarms are common. Even though they have a good set of features, they don’t work as smoothly as the winners in their class. For instance, adaptive cruise moves slowly and leaves a lot of space between you and the car in front of you.

What’s going on with storage? The IS doesn’t have the biggest trunk space in its class, but because it’s wider and taller, it’s more useful than the trunks of other sedans that have better on-paper specs. If you don’t need the back seats, you can fold them in half to make more room. The house has a limited amount of storage space. There is no good place to put your phone or sunglasses anywhere else but behind the chair.

There is also the matter of kid safety seats having very small back seats. When a seat is locked in place, there isn’t much room to move. Bigger chairs that face backward will make the people in front move forward.

How much fuel does it use? We looked at a Lexus IS 350 F Sport with rear-wheel drive. The EPA says that this car gets 23 mpg when it is driven on roads and in cities. That’s better than most rivals whose engines have six cylinders. When the IS 350 has an all-wheel drive, its total gas mileage drops to 22 mpg.

Is the value of the IS good? The Lexus IS is priced fairly and has a lot of great features. A few of the buttons and functions inside the car feel cheap, but the rest of it is well-made. When it comes to warranties, Lexus drivers have a slightly better experience than most people. Lexus cars have a basic warranty that lasts for four years or 50,000 miles and an engine warranty that lasts for six years or 70,000 miles.

The Lexus IS stands out from other cars because of its unique Japanese style, especially in the F Sport models. The grille has caused some discussion, but it goes well with the other changes to the front and back of the car. The F Sport’s form gives the IS more purpose without making it look flashy or overbearing. The inside style is also very German. Along with the good looks, the car is usually fun to drive. The IS is slower than most of its rivals, but it’s still fun to drive on winding roads where speed is less important.

As of this writing, Lexus hasn’t said anything official about the 2025 IS. We’ll change our suggestions if anything changes, but for now, we suggest the middle IS 350 based on the IS from last year. For a little more money than the base trim, you can get a much more powerful engine and a lot of other options.

Types of Lexus IS

There are three main types of the Lexus IS, and each has a different powertrain. Some of these are IS 300, IS 350, and IS 500.
