Our Opinion - 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Review In some ways, the Mitsubishi Outlander is like other small SUVs: it prioritizes comfort and space for cargo over fun to drive or looks good. It does, however, have some unique features, such as a different look on the outside and inside and a normal third row of seats that can fit seven people. The Mitsubishi’s four-cylinder engine isn’t very good, and it shares some parts and the base with the Nissan Rogue. It is important to note that the third row of seats is best for kids. However, the interior is truly remarkable for its comfort and surprising luxury. There is also a plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander that we will talk about individually. What's New? The Outlander gets a makeover in 2025 with new pieces and a fresh look. Mitsubishi has changed the layout of the center panel to make more space for storage and added a Yamaha sound system as a standard feature. There are more sound-deadening materials inside to make it quieter, and the suspension can be changed to make the ride smoother. Pros and Cons Pros A good deal on a lot of SUVs. Very easy to drive and handle. Longer standard warranty. Cons Lacks power. Uncomfortable third-row seating. Outlander Hybrid is a superior choice. Engine, Transmission, and Performance The Outlander comes standard with a 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder motor that makes 181 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. It can only be used with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). You can choose all-wheel drive, but the front-wheel drive is standard. Other than speedster cars like the turbocharged Mazda CX-5 and Kia Sportage, the Outlander’s acceleration times are about the same as those of other small crossovers. However, at highway speeds, its gearless CVT makes it feel less quick and sluggish. When we drove the 2025 Outlander, we thought it was cool and classy. The ride is tight, and the body moves smoothly. The cabin is quiet, which suggests that the extra cloth is working to block out noise. The steering wasn’t very clear, and the brake pedal felt soft, so this is more of a comfortable cruiser than a corner carver. Safety There are basic driver-assistance features on the Outlander, such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot recognition, and lane departure warning. Lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control are two of the more advanced features you can find in better trim levels. Some important safety features are: Standard features include automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. Standard blind-spot detection and back cross-traffic alert. You can get adaptive speed control. Internal and External Cargo Capacity It was already a good car for its class in the Outlander, and Mitsubishi says they will make them even better for 2025. The style is modern, and the quality of the inside surfaces and details is great. There is also a lot of current stuff available, like a head-up display and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The second row is a good fit for adults, but the third row doesn’t have much headroom. The only other small crossover with seven seats is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan. The 2025 Tiguan will only have two seats. We could have Outlander with two carry-on bags with the third row up, ten with the third row folded, and twenty-two with the second and third rows folded. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG The EPA numbers for the 2025 Outlander are the same as those for the previous model. The all-wheel-drive model gets 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, while the front-wheel-drive model gets 31 mpg on the highway. The pre-2025 all-wheel-drive model we tried got 26 mpg in real life, which was less than the EPA estimate. This happened on our 75 mph highway fuel-efficiency route, which is part of our thorough testing process. Infotainment and Connectivity The infotainment system in the Outlander comes with a 12.3-inch tablet. It comes with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and both smartphone mirroring systems can connect remotely. There is a power knob, a few hard buttons, and charging ports at the bottom of the middle stack on this system. A Yamaha sound system with eight speakers comes standard, but you can also get one with twelve speakers. Two more choices for entertainment are wireless charging for your devices and the Mitsubishi Connect app, which costs money but gives you access to remote services. Range, Charging, and Battery Life This Outlander should be able to hit 60 mph in 8.2 seconds, the same time we saw the last one go. After we try one for ourselves, we’ll add our thoughts to this area. Towing and Payload Capacity Larger SUVs or trucks are better at towing, but the Mitsubishi can tow up to 2,000 pounds if necessary. Price and How to Choose From $31,535 to $45,035 for a 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander, it depends on the type and any extras that come with it. The SE type in the middle range with the tech package is the best deal. A digital gauge panel, a panoramic sunroof, and the more powerful 12-speaker Yamaha audio system are all nice to have. Only the Platinum Edition comes standard with all-wheel drive. For an extra $1800, you can get all-wheel drive on any other model. Further down the road, a Trail Edition model with tougher looks will be added.
