There’s nothing bad about the Ford Maverick. The pickup is useful and not too expensive, which is usually different. People are interested in the basic vehicle because it meets all of their wants. Still, Ford plans to add a big screen for entertainment to its next mid-cycle update.

Invoice Pricing was able to get sneak peeks of the new 2025 Ford Maverick. On the outside, the camouflage makes it hard to tell what’s new, but a peek inside shows a bigger screen that works better than the old 8-inch display. Every Maverick that has been sold so far has had that exact screen size, whether it was the top-of-the-line Lariat or the base XL.

2025 Ford Maverick Spied With Updated Wider Vertical Screen

When you look more closely, it is standing up straight, which suggests that it is the 10.1-inch screen from the 2024 Ranger. That would completely change the Maverick’s interior, which is flat and very small right now. Owners have even used smart 3D printing to make use of the room to the right of the screen for a little bin. From the pictures we have, I can’t say for sure, but this update might get rid of the compartment. This is how the screen fits in the new Ranger XL and XLT

I do not want to be too critical of this change. Because bigger screens are more popular, almost all automakers have put them in their cars. All I want is for the Maverick to keep what makes it valuable without changing too much about its look. People buy these because they are simple and useful, not because they are fancy and hard to use.

Above: A test mule Maverick with four-wheel Drive. It’s a Tremor, which is the type that’s best for going off-road. The tires are different from the standard Maverick Tremor’s Falken Wildpeaks. They are Goodyear Wrangler RT tires, which are more aggressive. Since they both use the same unibody base, it makes sense for the Maverick to get changes like the ones that were made to prototypes of the Bronco Sport Badlands that were found in the wild.

In general, Ford’s choice to update the famous Maverick is a good one. The manufacturer can ignore it and keep getting paid, but it needs to keep coming up with new ideas, especially since other automakers might get into the compact truck business. Ford said today that it will make more Mavericks because sales are expected to double by 2023.

Whether you want a bigger screen or something else, the fuel-efficient truck underneath will stay the same. I will end the same way I began: what’s not to love?
