The last Ford Focus left the United States years ago and will soon no longer be made anywhere else in the world. In the United States, you can still buy a brand-new Focus. You have to accept that it is a 2002 model with only 117 kilometers on it and has never been registered. It could also have one of Ford’s worst engines.

This Focus is for sale right now at Centsible Auto Sales in Kalispell, Montana. According to the seller on Facebook, the car used to belong to Rygg Ford, a nearby Ford dealership that shut down in the early to mid-2000s for reasons that need to be explained online. According to a Flickr picture shoot of the closed dealer’s building in 2012, there were still a lot of cars on the lot, and many of them had been damaged, which suggests that the inventory had not been completely sold off.

A 2002 Ford Focus with only 117 miles on it that has never been sold is one way to spend $20,000

This Focus, on the other hand, was separate from them because it is still in showroom shape. Everything about it is brand new from the early 2000s: the paint job, the seats, and Monroney. Imagine rubbing your hands against the clean chairs made of cloth. They say the car has never been registered to a private party, which makes it sound like they haven’t had many butts. It also has a five-speed manual gearbox, which is very hard to find these days.

This isn’t all good news, though, because this Ford has a 2.0-liter Split Port Induction motor. People shouldn’t trust these engines because they have a past of excessive vibration, sludge buildup, and long-term drops in the valve seat. It should not happen for tens of thousands of kilometers, but it does. It takes away from the fun of having a 2002 car that has been kept in such great shape.

So, it’s hard to say if the $20,000 asking price, which is roughly $6,000 more than its MSRP from more than 20 years ago, is fair, even if it has been through a lot of maintenance. You should be the one if you know about these engines or want this Focus body style. This car is only as useful for the rest of us as a 2024 Nissan Versa, though. This includes giving them a manual engine with five speeds.
