• The 2025 Toyota 4Runner’s interior is bigger than the 2024 model’s, and the second and third rows have much more headroom.
  • All types have digital gauges that are at least 7 inches across, and the dashboard now has a 14-inch touchscreen.
  • Additional modern upgrades feature a wireless phone charger, wireless phone mirroring, and a standard heated steering wheel on the higher-end trims.

During its 14 years of production, the fifth-generation Toyota 4Runner’s body clearly showed its age. Luckily, Toyota’s sixth-generation model will replace the 4Runner in 2025. It has a more luxurious cabin full of high-tech features. The new 4Runner has more legroom than the old model, even though the hybrid engine that is now optional makes storage space much smaller.

A Comparison Of The Interiors Of The 2025 Toyota 4Runner And 2024 Toyota 4Runner

Adding More Dimensions

The new 4Runner is much bigger because its total length and wheelbase have grown by more than two inches. The new model is a bit longer and two inches wider than the old one. Usually, the bigger outside measurements make the inside feel bigger as well. The new 4Runner has a third row, just like the old one, but it’s only offered in the SR5 and Limited trims, which don’t have the hybrid drivetrain.

The 4Runner will have more room for people to move around in 2025. The legroom for people in the front rows gets a little bigger, but the headroom for people in the second row gets over two inches bigger. People in the third row now have an amazing 2.5 inches more space than they did before. On the other hand, space has gone down by 0.8 inches in the second row and up by 0.4 inches in the front. On the other hand, people in the third row have an extra inch of space.

It’s not as clear when other measures change. The shoulder room for people in the second row stays the same, but the shoulder room for people in the front row grows by 0.2 inches. The new model, on the other hand, has 1.3 inches less hip room in the front but 0.4 inches more in the second row. Toyota didn’t say how much shoulder and hip room there is in the third row of the 2025 4Runner.

As long as 4Runner drivers drive two-row SUVs that aren’t hybrids, they will be able to carry more things. It’s a bit more than before, but Toyota says the second row takes up 90 cubic feet of room. With the second-row seats in place, the 48 cubic feet of accessible room is about one cubic foot more than the 2024 model.

Adding a third row, on the other hand, makes the inside much smaller. It takes up 84 cubic feet of room to store things when both back rows are folded down. With the second row up, the 45 cubes are about one cubic foot smaller than the old type. Still, the 2025 4Runner added three cubic feet with the third row up, for a total of 12 cubic feet. Not surprisingly, the hybrid i-Force Max powertrain makes even less space for goods. With the second row up, it only takes up 43 cubic feet of space, but when it’s folded down, it takes up 83 cubic feet.

New Features and Amenities

The new sixth-generation 4Runner’s trunk is full of gadgets, unlike the old fifth-generation. The SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road have an 8.0-inch tablet. Although it’s the same size as the basic screen on the old model, the new one is clearer and has Toyota’s modern, simple, and easy-to-use entertainment system.

The TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter have a new 14.0-inch screen with great contrast. The 4Runners with the bigger screen have a 14-speaker JBL sound system standard, but it has one fewer speaker than the available system for the 2024 model.

Besides the base SR5 model, which has a 7.0-inch screen, all 2025 4Runners have a 12.3-inch digital gauge panel that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the phone. The screen on the first 4Runner was only 4.2 inches, and some purists will definitely be upset that it didn’t have real gauges.

Like the 2024 model, only the top trim levels—the Limited, the Platinum, the Trailhunter, and, unlike last year, the TRD Pro—come with standard dual-zone automatic climate control with vents in the second row. The Premium, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Sport all come with automatic temperature control for one zone as standard.

The TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road models come with heated front seats, which is standard. The Premium models, on the other hand, get air flow and switch from fabric to Toyota’s SofTex material. Before, only the Limited trim level had air conditioning, and the TRD Sport didn’t have seats that were heated. The Limited and Platinum seats are made of leather and are heated and cooled. New for 2018, the second-row seats are also warm. The first models to come with a heated steering wheel are the Premium, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter.

The TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off-Road Premium, and Limited all have a rearview light that automatically dims, among other things. The 4Runner now has a smart rearview mirror in the Platinum, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter models. All 4Runners have Smart Key technology, which lets you get in without a key. The inside of all trim levels except the SR5 has five USB-C ports and a wireless phone charger.
