• At the 2024 CES technology show in Las Vegas, electric car company VinFast showed off what might be a mid-size pickup truck.
  • After the VF8 and VF9, the VF Wild will be the third SUV that the company makes if it goes into production.
  • It needs to be clarified what the VF Wild’s powertrain and range are, but the company says that the midgate design can make more cargo room by extending the bed into the cabin.

VinFast, a new car company, may soon have a new electric truck to compete with the market leaders. The company showed off the VF Wild at CES today. It is a concept mid-size car with a rough exterior.

At CES, VinFast shows off the VF Wild, a mid-size electric pickup concept

We have a little about the VF Wild’s battery or engine, but we know it will have two motors for all-wheel drive and a range of at least 250 miles if it goes into production. VinFast did say that the truck has a midgate bed design, which makes it easier to load things because the cabin can be opened up into the storage area.

Because VinFast wants to get its products out quickly in the US, we can expect VF Wild to be ready for production in the next few years. Rivian R1T and the upcoming Fisker Alaska are two cars that look a lot alike in terms of their midgate design and footprint, so if it makes it past the idea stage and into the automaker’s showrooms, it will have to deal with tough competition.

Electric trucks that are bigger, like the Tesla Cybertruck, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and Ford F-150 Lightning, are less likely to get hot. Because of this, VinFast should join the EV truck market with a competitive price and good utility to attract customers who need help to afford a full-size EV truck from a well-known brand.
