• Subaru is adding to the WRX lineup with the 2025 WRX tS, which takes the place of the full-size STI model.
  • The tS has better Brembo brakes and dampers that can be adjusted in three different positions.
  • Early in 2019, you’ll be able to buy the 2025 Subaru WRX tS.

In 2024, Subaru introduced the WRX TR, a manual-only model that received significant enhancements, including stiffer springs, improved handling, front Recaro bucket seats, and enhanced brakes. The 2025 WRX tS, another unique offering from Subaru, is set to make its mark. The ‘Tuned by STI’ badge signifies the addition of a superior suspension and a digital instrument cluster, courtesy of STI’s performance division, making this model stand out in the lineup.

Brembo brakes and springs that can be changed for the 2025 Subaru WRX tS

The most significant upgrade in the 2025 WRX tS is the introduction of electrically controlled dampers with three settings: comfort, normal, and sport. This feature, previously exclusive to the WRX GT with automatic transmission, is now available in the tS, which comes with a six-speed manual transmission. The high-performance Brembo brake system, featuring two-piston rear calipers, six-piston front calipers, and larger brake pads and rotors, further enhances the car’s performance. Subaru promises stronger brakes, improved pedal feel, and reduced fading.

The tS boasts a distinctive exterior design, with clear black silica paint on the side mirrors, a shark-fin antenna, and a rear spoiler. The brake calipers are finished in gold, adding a touch of luxury. The trunk features a tS logo, and the limited version comes with satin gray 19-inch wheels. The wheels are already fitted with 245/35 Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, ready to hit the road in style.

The 12.3-inch digital instrument screen, which takes the place of the analog gauges, makes the tS’s cabin much better. This means the driver doesn’t have to turn to face the bigger 11.6-inch main screen, which comes standard on all WRX models except the base model, in order to see a map and get route suggestions.

The front seats are black synthetic suede Recaro bucket seats with eight-way power adjustment. The door panels, shifter, steering wheel, and seat bolsters are blue to match the rest of the chassis. On the floor mats and front seat headrests, the “WRX tS” logo is raised, and on the start button, the “STI” logo is raised. Subaru got rid of the sunroof to make the car lighter and give drivers who like to wear helmets more room.

The tS has a 2.4-liter flat-four turbocharged engine that makes 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These are sent to all four wheels. The 2025 Subaru WRX tS will go on sale early in 2025, and prices will be announced later in 2024. The 2024 WRX starts at $33,855, the TR model at $42,775, and the GT at $45,335. The tS will definitely cost more than $40,000.
