• Introducing a powerful Ford from the height of the muscle-car era.
  • With a 429-cubic-inch V-8 engine, a shaker hood scoop, and dual exhausts, this Torino Cobra is ready for serious performance.
  • This isn’t a Creamsicle-colored ’70s car; this is how subtle muscle is done.

During the muscle car era, being seen was just as important as loud V-8s and huge sheets of metal. These machines exuded a powerful presence that commanded respect, whether they were parked at the curb or cruising down Main Street. If two of them happened to come up to the same lights at the same time, they would have to crash.

Bring A Trailer's Find Today Is A 1970 Ford Torino Cobra Sportsroof

This 1970 Ford Torino Cobra with a 429-cubic-inch V-8 engine looks very dangerous and is currently for sale on Bring a Trailer, which is owned by Hearst Autos and works like Invoice Pricing. Compared to Chevys and Mopars of its time, this car is pretty rare. What makes it stand out is how simple it is: original 15-inch wheels, black-on-black paint job, and engine and transmission that match in numbers.

If this monster went to a bar in Pixar’s Cars, all the bad guys would leave through the back door. But look further. The paint job on this Torino makes it look great. It took about 400 hours of work to make those smooth sides shine and be free of ripples.

This Torino Cobra’s 429-cubic-inch V-8 engine initially generated 370 horsepower when it was new. It has been fully rebuilt to its original specs. The engine has a Super Cobra Jet and a 750-cfm Holley Double Pumper carburetor. The original spread-bore intake manifold has been taken apart, rebuilt, and kept because it is a one-of-a-kind part.

You can put the power to the ground through a three-speed automatic gearbox. The rebuilt nine-inch rear end has a Detroit Locker differential and 3.00:1 ratios. A powerful growl comes from a twin exhaust with Thrush mufflers in the back.

A huge, awful collectible Ford consists of a 1:18-scale model of the car, some historical information, a few extra parts, and a framed window sticker. You can relive your late-night drive days in this Torino, which is a bit different from the usual muscle car experience.

November 13 is the last day to bid.
