• At the Beijing auto show, Buick showed off two electric concept cars: the Electra-L sedan and the Electra-LT wagon.
  • The LT is more sporty, while the Electra-L is more elegant. Both cars look beautiful.
  • The LT has all-wheel drive, and the Electra-L is said to have a 435-mile range and a 342-hp electric motor in the back.

The Electra E5 and E4 crossovers, as well as the Velite 6 wagon, are the three choices available to Chinese drivers right now. In the United States, we are still waiting for Buick’s first electric vehicle (EV), which will come out next year. The Electra-L sedan and Electra-LT wagon are two brand-new, eye-catching concept cars from Buick. They are built on GM’s Ultium platform and are likely sneak peeks at models that will be sold in China. We hope that Buick will also decide to sell them in the United States.

Buick shows off ideas for the Electra EV sedan and wagon

Beautiful style

With a length of 198.3 inches and a width of 118.1 inches, the Electra-L is about the same size as a BMW 5-series. The thin headlights that loop down into a black piece on the front end are a clear nod to the Wildcat EV design. Start with the low, wide grille and work your way up to the black trim. The design has bumps and little LED lights.

The Electra-L looks good because it has a smooth surface, a calm purple paint job, and chrome wheels that look like turbines. In the idea, cameras are used instead of side view mirrors, and the taillights are a thin strip of lights that goes across the back of the car.

A panoramic glass canopy covers the luxury cockpit, which has four beautifully shaped seats and a dashboard and center panel that flow together. The front passenger can see both the huge screen behind the steering wheel and a secret 7.0-inch screen above the glove box. The back seats also have an induction oven and a tea table built in, and there is a fragrance diffuser to keep the car smelling nice.

The Electra-L’s engine wasn’t shown in full, but we do know that it has an electric motor on the back axle that makes 342 horsepower. It is said that the Electra-L can go over 435 miles on China’s easier test run.

The Buick Longroof is back

The Electra-LT has sportier black titanium wheels with a geometric armor-like pattern and yellow accents. The design is still very beautiful, but the wheels are attached to a wagon body with a smooth roofline. The lower front grille has been painted black to remove the dimpled light design and make the car look cleaner.

The LT’s stylish roof box adds even more utility. The electric wagon also has an all-wheel drive and an air suspension system that raises it by about 1.5 inches. We really like both the Electra-L and Electra-LT, but the wagon is our favorite. It looks like the sedan is being made, but it’s unlikely that either of these two electric cars will be sold in the US because Buick has recently decided to focus on crossovers. We will still be able to dream, though.
