• The airbags in the 2024 Lexus TX and 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander may be defective, posing a serious safety risk, hence the recall.
  • Toyota says the recall is necessary because of a curtain shield airbag that might not work properly after a crash. It covers about 145,000 cars.
  • Toyota is actively working on a fix and aims to inform all owners of the recall by the middle of August, demonstrating our commitment to your safety.

The airbags in the Lexus TX and Toyota Grand Highlander might not work right. As of today, Toyota voluntarily recalled about 145,000 of its two mid-size SUVs offered in the US. The company found that the curtain shield airbags might not deploy properly in the event of an accident.

Calls for 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX Airbags

Toyota said that the driver’s side airbags are affected, and if the driver’s window is down, they may not fire properly. This, of course, makes it more likely that someone will get hurt in an accident there.

Toyota said it is investigating a way to fix the safety problem right now. The company hopes to inform all Grand Highlander and Texas owners by the middle of August. The recall only affects cars made in 2024, the only year each SUV is made.
