• The Citroen C3 is a brand-new electric car that just got here in Europe.
  • It’s very cheap, with a starting price of €19,990.
  • Citroen says the base model will go about 124 miles, and the more expensive model will go about 199 miles.

At $29,255, the Nissan Leaf is the cheapest EV in the United States. In Europe, on the other hand, electric cars are getting cheaper. Citroen just released the -C3, a new electric vehicle that will cost around €20,000, or a little more than $21,000.

In the US, the subcompact class is very similar to the B-segment in Europe. The Citroen C3 is in this category. The new C3 is longer, wider, and taller than the old one. It also rides on a new base that Citroen says was made just for battery-powered cars. The first one costs more and starts at €23,300, about $24,650. The battery pack holds 44.0 kWh, and the company says it can go 199 miles on WLTP. Also, it can charge quickly with 100 kW DC.

You’ll have to wait until 2025 and give up some features to get the version for €19,990. Citron says the base model will have a WLTP range of about 124 miles, but they haven’t said how big the battery pack will be yet. The -C3 is also not very fast, even though it has an electric drivetrain with 113 hp and a stated acceleration time of 11.0 seconds to 62 mph.

As the price of cars goes up, we’re glad that the EV segment is still putting a lot of stress on value. This year, GM suggested that the next-generation Chevy Bolt EV might be one of the EVs that cost less than $30,000. On the other hand, American buyers aren’t likely to find any electric cars with such a low starting price. The 2023 Bolt EV started at just $27,495 before it was taken off the market. We expect the new model will be priced similarly.
