Jaguar Land Rover (now JLR) told Car and Driver that the Land Rover name would stay. JLR announced yesterday that Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, and Jaguar would have four sub brands. There were a lot of false rumors on the Internet that Land Rover was going out of business. Car and Driver called Jaguar Land Rover, now officially known as JLR, as soon as they heard about the end of the famous brand earlier today. They were told that the famous Land Rover name would live on. Customers were reassured in a news release issued by the company that Land Rover will continue to be part of the lineup. Its spirit will continue to be a key part of our DNA. Since JLR announced a new branding plan yesterday, the wrong information came about because the information wasn’t processed well enough. The company wants to improve the Defender and the Discovery, for example. JLR’s “House of Brands” approach, which includes Range Rover and Jaguar, consists of this four-pronged plan. This plan aims to make each brand more distinctive. So, don’t expect new cars to have the awkward name “Land Rover Range Rover.” JLR’s New Path The rebranding is part of a bigger plan that includes turning the British automaker’s Halewood plant in the UK into an all-electric production site and introducing a new medium-sized EV Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) underpinnings of the SUV architecture produced by the company. JLR says it will start taking pre-orders for the electric Range Rover, which will go on sale in 2025. JLR will still sell gas-powered and hybrid cars and its new electric vehicles. Last but not least, Jaguar is making three new cars, the first of which is an electric four-door grand tourer built on the JEA base. People say the new Jaguar GT is faster than any other Jaguar model. It is also expected to cost around $124,000 and be able to go up to 430 miles on a single charge.
