• With the help of a new Ford Performance components kit, some Ford Bronco users can now get a steering system that lasts longer.
  • The Heavy Duty Steering Upgrade kit costs $1300 and comes with a high-power motor, stronger tie rods, and the Bronco Raptor’s more durable steering gearbox.
  • All two-door cars, four-door cars with the Sasquatch package, and Wildtraks from 2021 to 2024 can be called Broncos.

From the very beginning, the Ford Bronco was built to handle rough off-road situations. Of course, this doesn’t mean that some parts won’t break if they are used too much. We’re mostly talking about the steering setup of the mid-size SUV. With the help of a new package from Ford Performance, which was first made available by the Ford Authority, owners of certain models can now change how the steering works.

Making the Broncos stronger

The Severe Duty Steering Upgrade package comes with extra-strong inner and outer tie rods, a motor with more power, and the Bronco Raptor’s more durable steering gearbox. However, Ford Performance says that their digital ProCal 4 Calibration Tool is needed to change the steering gear, even though the system costs $1300. People who want to use it will have to pay an extra $495 unless they know someone who has one they can take for the installation.

There are Bronco owners whose trucks are already tougher, so they can leave the stronger steering gear as is. The Bronco Wildtrak was first made stronger by Ford by adding the HOSS 3.0 (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension) package, which was made standard for the 2023 model year. The Raptor has already been talked about. In 2024, the company did the same thing and added HOSS 3.0 equipment to the Sasquatch package. They also made it standard on the Bronco Badlands, according to Ford Authority.

People who don’t have any of those cars or who bought one before the HOSS package became available may benefit from Ford Performance’s steering enhancement. It works with Bronco models from 2021 to 2024, such as two-door cars and four-door cars with the Sasquatch package. It also works with Wiltrak models from 2021 to 2022.
