Owners of the Ranger Raptor and Bronco Raptor trucks can now upgrade to a 3.0 V6 twin-turbo engine. With the Ford Performance software setting, the engine can make 455 horsepower and 536 pound-feet of torque. The car’s warranty covers the $825 update for three years or 36,000 miles, and a nearby dealer installed it. Since the 2010 release of the first Ford F-150 Raptor, the Raptor name has been closely linked to high-speed off-road powers. The Bronco Raptor and the Ranger Raptor are both very good all-terrain vehicles that can compete with the Ford F-150 Raptor. Ford is now letting owners of those two cars improve their machines even more with the help of new software calibration from Ford Performance Components. Together, the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine in both Raptors makes more horsepower and torque because the software has been better. The Ranger Raptor’s torque goes from 430 pound-feet to 536 pound-feet, and its horsepower goes from 405 to 455 horsepower. The Bronco Raptor’s tune makes the 418 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque the same. The extra power should help with times from 0 to 60 mph. The Ranger Raptor did it in 5.3 seconds and the Bronco Raptor in 5.6 seconds, but Ford didn’t say exactly what those times were. Ford thinks that the changes, which include better throttle response and an “optimized shift schedule,” add up to a $825 package. The calibration is covered by the three-year, 36,000-mile guarantee on Ford Performance parts, and it can be bought online and installed at a dealership. It’s free to register your car and go to the Raptor Rally on September 21 at Ford’s Performance Racing School in Fairfield, Utah, which is west of Salt Lake City. Participants will also get a 20% discount ticket. The $500 Raptor Rally lets the driver bring a guest. Professional off-road racers will be there, and Ford has planned a lot of off-road rides, classes, and ways for people to meet and talk.
