There is talk about M adding a new four-cylinder engine to its Cylinder Set Strategy (CSS) line. The CSS range has four different four-cylinder engines. The smallest is a 1.3-liter turbo-four (L3T) in the Chevy Trailblazer, and the biggest is a 2.7-liter turbo-four (L3B) in the Cadillac CT4. GM Authority says that a new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, but it’s unclear what will be used to power it. People say the new 2.5-liter turbo-four is a minor form of the L3B engine. That means it will be a metal four-cylinder engine with a single turbo and dual overhead cams (DOHC). If it’s anything like the other L3B engines, it should have more power than its size would suggest. GM’s 2.7-liter L3B engine can be found in Cadillacs and pickup trucks (Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500) for a four-cylinder engine under 3.0 litters, which is a lot. There are 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque in the Cadillac CT4-V. We don’t know how much power the new 2.5-liter engine will have at the time, but 300 horsepower and 350-400 pound-feet of torque seem reasonable. No one knows if The truck engine generates 310 hap and 430 lob-ft. Also, if the L3B is replaced, it is unclear whether the truck, the Cadillac, or both will be returned. It might replace the L2R engine, too. The less expensive version of the L3B engine gives the Chevrolet Colorado 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. GM Authority said that the only thing they knew about when this engine would come out was that it was in the final stages of development. We have yet to learn much about this new engine officially, but we might find out more by the end of the year.
