Honda is going to release the mid-sized SUV Elevate in Japan in 2019. Honda is the biggest car company in the world. Press Trust of India (PTI) says that a product made by Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), a fully owned subsidiary of the Japanese company, will be sold to Japan for the first time. This is a big step in history. The Elevate is made at Honda Cars India Ltd.’s (HCIL) Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. An HCIL representative said that the Elevate will be sold in Japan under the brand name WR-V in the spring of 2024. It had a good debut in India earlier this year. The news statement said that for the first time in its history, HCIL would make the model in India and send it to Japan. “This strategic move is a strong reflection of manufacturing capabilities of India operations and also solidifies our vision of making the country a key export hub in Honda business,” commented Honda a spokesperson for the business. The statement says that HCIL’s Tapukara factory is ready to meet the needs of both local and international customers. HCIL brought Elevate to the Indian market in September of this year. As part of its long-term plans, the company wants to bring five SUV types to the US market by 2030, starting with this one. Within the next three years, the company also plans to release an Elevate battery-electric type. The car has a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that is paired with both a seven-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a six-speed manual gearbox. Honda Cars India said that by 2026, it would have a fully electric mid-size SUV called the Elevate on the market. The current plan from Honda is to release an all-electric Elevate car within the next three years. A story from PTI says that Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO of Honda Cars India, said that the company is working on making a battery-electric version of the Honda Elevate.
