Hyundai Motor Group showed off its next-generation entertainment and operating system. It has a big screen in the middle that looks a lot like Tesla’s. The faster, flashier, and new software will come out in the second quarter of 2026. Hyundai’s new “Pleos” system will have a central display that looks like a tablet, which is a direct attack on its Texas-based electric car competitor. If you believe the sample, the Hyundai screen will have buttons and knobs. This keeps you from having to deal with the hassle of an aftermarket repair or a protest from a purist. People think that Tesla’s in-car entertainment system is one of the best out there. It’s big, fast, and pretty easy to use. If Hyundai could copy some of those features with this system that looks like Tesla’s, it might be a good choice for people who want a Tesla-like experience but don’t want to use that brand anymore, which seems to be a lot of people these days. Pleos comes from the Greek words OS, which means “operating system,” and pleo, which means “more.” To put it another way, “moar tech.” Hyundai’s Pleos platform, which was made in-house to combine high-performance CPUs, car operations, infotainment, cloud infrastructure, fleet management, and logistics optimization, is a lot like a supercomputer. Pleos will take care of everything, from better contact and response times between vehicles to accurate real-time data and the ability for cars to drive themselves. It was announced by Hyundai that the technology will be in 20 million of its cars by 2030, but the company did not say which brands, models, or powertrains will get it first in 2026. Pleos will also help Hyundai reach its goal of having Level 2-plus self-driving technology in place by the end of 2027. AI, cameras, and lasers will all be used in the new self-driving system.
