Today, they showed off the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, which has a classy look and a high-tech interior with a 48-inch tablet across the dashboard. Lincoln’s new two-row midsize SUV gets its first big update since the MKX crossover was renamed Nautilus in 2019. The engine is also a hybrid.

The Nautilus looks more confident than it did before. It has a more determined look and a horizontal LED light strip that ties the headlights to the lit symbol in the middle of the more prominent grille. The “Lincoln” name is lit up in the LED headlights, and all Nautilus roofs are black. Like the Continental car, which will no longer be made after 2020, the door handles are hidden in the window trim.

There are many displays

Inside, a giant 48-inch screen takes up the whole cabin. It comprises two 24-inch screens and is managed by an 11.1-inch touchscreen near the driver. Lincoln says that the screen keeps important information higher in the field of view so drivers can keep their attention on the road. You can easily change the display by dragging and dropping widgets from the touch screen below. A “calm” button turns off the right side screen. The 48-inch monitor is followed by an exciting door trim with a surface resembling waves and LED lights that change colors.

Massages, leather, and smells

The giant screen is also used in a new feature called “Lincoln Rejuvenate,” which uses the screen, audio system, internal lighting, and massage seats to put on a show meant to relax and energize the driver. The “Rejuvenate” feature on a Lincoln will be the first to offer an optional diffuser spraying the cabin with one of three smells.

The Nautilus has 24-way power-adjustable seats and a 28-speaker Revel audio system. Luxurious leather, ambient lighting, and a crystal-like gloss on the buttons and controls give the car an upscale feel. While heated second-row seats come standard on the Black Label and are an option on lower-priced vehicles, all models come with heated and ventilated front seats. Every Nautilus comes with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Alexa, which can be used as a voice assistant to handle both the car and connected home devices.

Put the V-6 engine away

The Nautilus no longer has a V-6 engine. Instead, a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine and a 134-hp electric motor make up a hybrid drivetrain that makes 310 horsepower. The hybrid system, which comes standard on all Nautilus cars, has 25 less horsepower than the old V-6 and is paired with a transmission that constantly changes speed.

The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter unit similar to Corsairs. It has 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque, five lb-ft less than the four-cylinder 2023 Nautilus. The base engine is still paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the front-wheel drive is no longer a choice. Instead, all 2024 Nautiluses come with all-wheel drive as standard. The 2024 Nautilus is built on a version of the transverse C2 frame, also used by the Corsair and Ford Escape. The engines in the midsize Aviator, which has three rows of seats, are set up differently.

The Reserve trim has wheels that are 21 inches wide, the Black Label trim has wheels that are 22 inches wide, and the Premiere trim has wheels that are 19 inches wide. The suspension might be adjustable, or it might not. BlueCruise is Ford’s hands-free technology for driving on the highway. It comes with all 2024 Nautiluses and is free for the first 90 days on lower trims and four years on higher models. After that, it costs a monthly fee. The latest version of BlueCruise will now suggest changing lanes if you are stuck behind slower-moving traffic, and it will do so when the driver turns on their turn signal. Other features that help the driver, like adaptive speed control, are also built-in.

The 2024 Nautilus will be made in China at a factory owned by Chinese automaker Changan and a joint partnership between Ford and Changan. The first ones will be sold in the United States in early 2024. The price hasn’t been released yet, but we expect it to be slightly higher than the base price of $46,220 for the last model.
