Even the most prestigious car brands are not immune to the shifts in the market. Mercedes-Benz, for instance, is set to part ways with half of its inventory, a significant portion of which comprises convertibles, coupes, and wagons. The ripple effect is felt across the industry, with Audi and Porsche also bidding adieu to their two-door and droptop models. The impact is undeniable.

Trucks, crossovers, and cars that aren’t SUVs are getting harder to find every year. This could be because they are greedy for profit margins, keeping costs low, or because of how customers see them. The Chevrolet Malibu, the Subaru Legacy, the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio, and the Nissan GT-R have all had eulogies made for them so far in 2024.

In 2025, Audi will no longer make coupes and convertibles

The German car company has yet to say for sure that the A5, S5, and RS5 hatchback and cabriolet models will no longer be made. One thing that Carscoops points out is that they needed to be added to the roll call for the 2025 model year. “The 2025 A5 family includes the A5 Sportback, the S5 Sportback, and the RS5 Sportback,” the press statement said. That’s a bad thing.

For the first time in a long time, Audi will not have a car or convertible in stock. There’s no reason why Ingolstadt can’t make good models of them. In fact, Audi stopped making the R8 and TT last year because they were having trouble with sales, going electric, and other issues. But only after the TT and R8 made our list of very important symbols.

They have different styles, but both are classic. The TT didn’t have very good speed, but the MX-5 Miata isn’t much better either. In spite of that, both are considered fast cars. The TT was as cute and nice as a small two-seater could be. But the R8 started as a Le Mans-inspired V8 monster and stayed that way until it got a V10. As a result, a proper goodbye would include a run around Laguna Seca. Tony Stark was making a face somewhere.

We’ve always had a soft spot for the A5 and its more luxurious iterations. In a market increasingly dominated by SUVs, we’re grateful that Audi is still offering some of these rare gems. Let’s face it, in today’s automotive landscape, exclusivity is a luxury in itself.

One example is that Genesis made it clear that it would not stop making cars, even if the G70 weren’t going to be made. The instructions were lost, even at Porsche. If you buy a 911 in 2025, it will be the first time in its 60-year history that you can get it without stick gear.

Let’s take a moment to pay tribute to the coupes and cabriolets that have graced our roads for so long. Their legacy will always be remembered. Thank you for the memories.
