• Toyota released the GR Corolla TC race car, which is based on the 300-hp hot hatch used in the real world.
  • Toyota’s GR Corolla TC will lie between the Supra GT4 racer and the GR86 Cup car in the company’s motorsport lineup.
  • Some of the upgrades are better suspension, a full roll cage, better Alcon brakes, and an OMP fiberglass seat with a six-point harness.

With its new Formula One relationship with Haas, Toyota is now involved in almost every level of racing. This includes NASCAR, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and grassroots projects like the GR86 sports car’s single-make GR Cup series. Toyota recently showed off its new race car at a press meeting at the GR Garage in Mooresville, North Carolina. There will be a space for the GR Corolla TC between the Supra GT4 and the GR86 Cup racing.

In 2025, Toyota Will Show Off A Brand-New GR Corolla TC Race Car

It starts as a regular GR Corolla and will race in the SRO-run TC America series. It has the same 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, eight-speed automatic gearbox, and GR-Four all-wheel drive system. By 2025, all GR Corollas will have 295 pound-feet of torque. In the production model, the three-cylinder engine will make 300 horsepower. We doubt that the track car will change much, but Toyota has yet to disclose how much power the race car has.

A Number of Changes

Toyota plans to improve a number of TC racer parts at the GR Garage, where the GR86 Cup cars are made. The GR Corolla will have JRi shock absorbers that can be adjusted in two ways: custom MacPherson struts made by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing racing team and six-piston front and two-piston rear brakes from Alcon.

An OMP fiberglass seat with a six-point harness, an OMP electronically triggered fire extinguishing system, and an FIA-approved roll cage are inside the car. A Bosch Motorsports electronics system will control the drivetrain, power management, and ABS. Along with other aerodynamic features, the body has a big rear wing, a back diffuser, a front splitter, and more.

The TC America series will combine the TCX and TC classes into a single-car class when the GR Corolla comes out in 2025. Toyota says that more information about the GR Corolla TC race car, like how much it costs, will be made public soon.
