• The Honda e is no longer being sold in the UK and Europe. This comes a year after the company stopped selling it in Japan.
  • The small electric city car has been around since 2020, but it is only sold in Japan and Europe.
  • Like we said yesterday, Honda announced the switch to TopGear.com.

From our point of view, the 2020 Honda e was a lovely, lovable, and generally fun car to drive. Still, we came to the conclusion that it would be hard to sell in the US at about $40,000 and a real-world range of about 100 miles.

In Europe and the UK, the Honda e drives off into the sunset

Honda told Top Gear’s website that it will stop taking orders for the city car and stop making them, which suggests that it has found the same thing in Japan and Europe. As the company says, the e was able to bring “many new customers to the brand with its distinctive design, advanced technology, and trademark Honda driving dynamics.”

Even though people in Europe like small, cheap city cars more than people in the US, we think that the relatively high price and short range made it hard to sell to real users there.

Aside from its cute face and happy personality, it’s a shame to see the e go. It also had a clever design that wasn’t just batteries crammed into old structures. The e was built with a special rear-drive architecture that makes the most of the space-saving benefits of an electric engine. This means that we will miss seeing the planes fly over our streets, even though we never got to enjoy that too much.
