Mercedes-AMG may reintroduce V-8 engines in its C-class and E-class high-performance automobiles. The AMG GT63 S E Performance and AMG S63 are twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 hybrids. V-8 automobiles may debut in 2026, according to sources. AMG residents are upset. The most powerful AMG C-class, the C63, replaced the V-8 with a turbocharged hybridised four-cylinder engine, while the upcoming E63 will have an inline-six plug-in hybrid powertrain. It can’t compete with the twin-turbo inline-six BMW M3 and the forthcoming hybrid twin-turbo V-8 BMW M5. The Audi RS5 and RS7 will have 640-horsepower V-6 hybrid engines. Two insiders suggest the M177 4.0-liter V-8 engine, which will return to the C- and E-class in 2026, is the only solution. EU7 pollution standards are modifying the eight-cylinder engine. This engine powers the 831-hp AMG GT63 S E Performance and 791-hp S63. They’re hybrids. Senior project experts said the twin-turbo engine, PHEV battery, electric motor, and other equipment would fit in the C-class and E-class with minor bodywork adjustments. C- and E-class production may continue past 2028. AMG’s high-performance vehicles may be made for another decade.
