New trademarks submitted to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) could potentially indicate the introduction of new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class coupes. Two Registered Community Designs (RCDs) were submitted to the EUIPO, seemingly by a partner organization. One application features an S-class coupe equipped with an S63 front bumper, while the other showcases what appears to be an S680, distinguished by a split-window design. When the W223-generation S-class was released, Mercedes-Benz promised to remove the coupe and cabriolet body styles. They kept their word a year after the latest generation was released. Two trademark applications sent to the EUIPO right now show that Mercedes-Maybach is considering changing its plans. Both patent applications were filed this week. The first one showed what looked like a Mercedes-Maybach S-class coupe with an S63 front bumper. The wheel caps have the Maybach logo on them, and the AMG logo is very clear on the back decklid. A Maybach S680 coupe with a split rear window is given in the second entry. The dates for both applications end on January 8, 2030. Even though Mercedes didn’t really file them, both patents are interesting to us. A later study shows that Robu Aktiengesellschaft registered both of the new RCDs. This business also applied for a title in 2021 for what turned out to be the Bussink GT R SpeedLegend. It was made by HWA AG, a longtime partner of Mercedes. Robu’s 2021 RCD was later turned into the very limited Bussink GT R SpeedLegend, so Mercedes might use these new files for its high-end Mythos program. The company said in 2023 that it would make a new line of Mythos cars that would fit between Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The first car in the Mythos line was the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, an SL63 that could go 196 mph and had a halo that looked like it came from F1. The PureSpeed could only be made in 250 units worldwide.
