People who want a small truck like the Hyundai Santa Cruz, and for good reason. The stylish and capable car is perfect for people who are always on the go and like to see new places. The famous Rebelle Rally, only for women, will be revisited by the Korean automaker’s truck, which has been made much better for overlanding.

Hyundai said that the Santa Cruz only needed “minimal” changes to be ready for competition while it was being made for the competition. A skid plate was added to the front bumper to protect the truck’s undercarriage. For better ground clearance, bigger 17-inch Falken Wildpeak tires were put on, and a Truxxxx lift kit raised the car by 1.5 inches up front and 1 inch up back. Extra lights and a front recovery point were added, a spare tire on the back, a shovel, and a set of MaxTrax recovery gear.

On October 13, the ninth Rebelle Rally will occur in the California mountains. During the eight-day navigational task, you can’t drive or use navigation tools. GPS and gadgets that connect to the internet are also not allowed. The old way of finding your way on the tricky roads is with a guide and paper maps. Santa Cruz’s GPS radio was removed to follow these rules, and a Terratrip rally computer was added to keep track of time.

Two auto journalists, Jill Ciminillo and Kristin Shaw, will oversee Hyundai’s involvement. Shaw has worked on the Rebelle Rally in many different capacities for a long time. He is a lifelong traveler and used to be the weekend editor of Invoice Pricing. We all wish her and her co-driver the best of luck in this year’s race.

The “Brute Squad,” a couple with a Santa Cruz who attack gatherings, is back. “We know that Santa Cruz is capable and rugged from our experiences at last year’s rally and through multiple training sessions,” Shaw indicated in a press release. Every mile we drive makes the experience better and makes us feel closer to the car.

The cover for the truck was made by Matt Marble and Kellen Gustine of Hyundai Design North America. Hyundai says the design is based on typography and designs from the 1970s. It has blocks of bright colors that stand out against the dark tracks.

Watching Hyundai drive its small pickup truck through the desert is very interesting. There are already rumors about a Santa Cruz that will be able to go off-road better in the future. It could help Hyundai’s smaller competitor stand out in the pickup truck market, which has become a more heated fight lately.
