The Nissan Frontier Tarmac concept is a street-ready, lowered version of Nissan’s mid-size pickup designed specifically for drifting. The Tarmac incorporates a NISMO cold-air intake, a tailored NISMO exhaust system, and a supercharger to elevate the V-6’s power output beyond the 400-hp threshold. The concept features a brand-new Afterburn Orange paint for 2025, complemented by numerous carbon-fiber elements and an innovative widebody design. The Nissan Frontier is a regular mid-size pickup truck that has the sturdiness and usefulness that many truck buyers look for. Nissan’s new Frontier Tarmac concept for this year’s SEMA show changes that recipe in some ways. The Tarmac concept is an idea for a lowered street car that puts style and speed ahead of long-term usefulness. The famous Formula Drift driver Chris Forsberg and his team, Forsberg Racing, helped build the truck. Nissan says the project, which was based on the 2025 Frontier PRO-4X grade, took about six months to finish. Forsberg and Nissan kept the Frontier’s stock 3.8-liter V-6 engine, but they made it a real drift car by adding a water-cooled blower, a prototype NISMO carbon-fiber cold air intake, and a custom cat-back exhaust system. When the end product makes an extra 130 horsepower and 119 pound-feet of torque, it adds 440 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque to the total, which is sent to the back wheels. But go-juice isn’t the only thing that affects how well a slide car does. The Z NISMO’s brake calipers are also used on the Tarmac’s 15-inch floating two-piece rotors and hubs. On the back wheels, there are two calipers: one for regular stopping power and the other for a hydraulic hand brake made just for drifting. Three sets of Yokohama Advan V107 tires cover the back of the Tarmac. The front tires are 275/40R-20 Yokohama Advan V107. Nissan has used carbon fiber in many places, such as the hood, skirts, roof cap, and tonneau cover, to make the car look different. There are two front Recaro seats with a vintage fabric print and a carbon fiber steering wheel inside. A custom NISMO suspension system supports the whole car. It has remote tanks and a four-to-six-inch lowering kit with coil-overs that can be moved.
