Off-roading is more fun with friends. It is not about how funny they are but about how helpful it is to have someone help you out of a jam. Last Monday, a group of wheelers in California pulled a bunch of cars out of a big puddle to show they could do it. The video was posted on Instagram by Dirtnation_offroad. It showed a train of trucks stuck in deep mud. The event occurred at the San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area, just north of Azusa. It is a popular place to play in the ground, and people with messed-up off-road cars often leave trash there without thinking. Even though it is easy to get stuck, it is part of the fun. Off-road recovery needs a light touch and a precise touch on the wheel. But that is not the case here. Instead, we see brave cars in a train pushing each other out of the way one at a time, and horsepower and traction win. After a Ford truck from the late 1970s pulling a bullnose Ford, there is an early full-sized Jeep. Two square-body Chevys are behind them, and one is stuck in reverse. In this case, linking all the cars into one long train makes perfect sense. Because the mud was so thick, it would be easy for one tow car to get stuck while pulling another out. The whole line can keep moving by connecting them all, even if one truck is spinning its wheels. In addition, it is a lot of fun. It is very typical to want to get stuck so that you and your team can figure out how to get out. We may be unable to explain it, but we can still understand it. Let us shout out to the mudders, but remember to take your shoes off before you go in.
