After months of rumors, secret photos, and likely leaks, the long-awaited 2025 Toyota Camry has finally been shown. With all the cards out in the open, it would be smart to compare the most recent version of Toyota’s main midsize player to its most formidable rival, the newly updated 2024 Honda Accord. The 2018 Toyota Camry has a lot of new features, such as an all-hybrid range (since Honda went almost entirely hybrid this time), optional all-wheel drive (which none of the Accords have), and a lot of new features that come as standard.

The 2025 Camry is mostly an improvement over the current Accord, just like the most recent Accord. The only changes that were made to the vehicle were to the structure of the back end to make room for the new all-wheel-drive system. The interior has also been redone and has more tech. The Accord got a new look and feel inside and out last year, but the powertrains were updated versions of the ones that came before. So, even though the Accord and Camry are one year older, they both got similar improvements from the models that came before them. Our race today is the closest one yet. Check out the comparison of these two midsize four-door rivals, but keep in mind that Toyota hasn’t released all of the Camry’s specs yet; they will be added as soon as they are available.

On paper, the 2024 Honda Accord and the 2025 Toyota Camry are the best cars

Power and engine comparison between the Honda Accord 2024 and the Toyota Camry 2025

As was already said, one of the biggest changes to the 2025 Toyota Camry will be an all-hybrid option. Each Camry will have the same hybrid engine, which is Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid Synergy drive. We have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that connects to two electric motors—a drive motor and a starter/generator—through a planetary-type continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT). This makes the front wheels move. The base model has 225 horsepower, and the brand-new all-wheel-drive model makes that number 232 horsepower. This model has an extra electric motor on the back axle that can power the back wheels whenever they need it.

The Camry’s mechanical all-wheel-drive system was only available with the base 2.5-liter gas I-4 engine last year. That year’s engine and extra V-6 engine are no longer for sale. It’s important to note that the 2017 Camry Hybrid has a lot more power than the 2016 model, which only had 208 horsepower. The Camry has more power than the new Accord. It can have either the base 1.5-liter turbocharged I-4 engine with 192 horsepower, which is only available in the two base trim levels, or the 2.0-liter I-4 hybrid engine with 204 horsepower, which has a bigger electric motor.

On the other hand, the Honda hybrid’s electric motor is stronger than its gas engine, which is why it is the main source of power. When going faster, the engine can directly drive the front wheels through a clutch and a single-speed gearbox. In normal situations, the engine works to power the machine. We recently made a test comparison between the newest Accord Hybrid and the Camry Hybrid that is being phased out. This gave us more information about how the two hybrids behave differently.

Comparing the Toyota Camry 2025 and the Honda Accord 2024

By 2025, the Camry’s lower trims, LE and SE, will have a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. The higher-end XLE and XSE will have a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10-inch head-up display that can be added. For multimedia, the XLE and XSE have a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen than the LE and SE, which only have an 8.0-inch touchscreen. They also have Toyota’s newest entertainment system, which is also found in other new Toyota cars. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two examples of wireless tools that come with all versions.

All 2024 Accord cars come with the bigger 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster. However, the 1.5-liter turbocharged LX and EX trim levels (which are not hybrid) have a smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen with very basic graphics. It’s easy to get used to the basic screen’s simple shape, and the volume and tuning buttons are its only real strengths. From the base Sport trim level to the top-of-the-line Touring, all hybrid Accords have 12.3-inch touchscreens that are the same size as those in the Camry and come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also Google Built-In on the most expensive Accord Touring. This has a personal assistant that can search and Google Maps built-in.

Honda Accord 2024 vs. Toyota Camry 2025: Safety and Support for the Driver

In 2025, the Toyota Camry will come with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which is currently only available on newly updated Toyota cars like the Prius. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 has technologies like blind-spot monitoring, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering aid, and a pre-collision automated emergency braking system where a person can be detected. Some of the more advanced features are proactive driving help and lane tracking assistance.

Honda Sensing in the Accord is very similar to Toyota Safety Sense. It has features like recognizing traffic signs, lane exit warnings, and lane keep assist. Toyota, on the other hand, has full-speed radar-based cruise control and blind-spot tracking across the entire lineup, which the base Accord LX does not have.

The 2024 Honda Accord and the 2025 Toyota Camry are both good cars, but which one will win?

While the 2025 Toyota Camry made its official appearance, there is still a lot we still need to learn about it besides what we’ve already talked about. To see if it lives up to Toyota’s claims, we also need to get our hands on it. Toyota hasn’t said anything about the car’s features, gas mileage, or price yet, so don’t expect big changes to the interior or trunk room.

We’re excited to see how these two cars do in real life and on the road, but for now, the Toyota looks sportier and has more power than the Honda, which has a more traditional look.
