The 2025 Nissan Versa is the last new car available in the United States, and it costs less than $20,000. Versa prices range from $18,330 for the base model with a manual transmission to $22,330 for the top-of-the-line SR trim. The new Nissan subcompact sedan comes with a new free maintenance plan in addition to three free oil changes and standard LED headlights. However, there weren’t many new cars that started at less than $20,000, but at least there were choices. There aren’t many new cars that cost less than $20,000 out there now. With the Versa, which starts at $18,330 for the 2025 model year, Nissan stays in the truly affordable new car league. The 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine in Nissan’s front-wheel-drive subcompact sedan has 122 horsepower and comes in three trim levels. The base S model has a five-speed automatic transmission, which is only standard. Adding the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) option, which costs an extra $1800, brings the base price up to $20,130. SV and SR models are also in the Versa lineup. With black 17-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and a dark chrome grille, the second one looks more sporty. The SV starts at $21,630, while the SR costs $22,330. Smart cruise control and a bigger 8.0-inch touchscreen in the middle are part of the SR’s extra features. Together with the heated front seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel, the interior has trim-specific upholstery and orange accents. Free maintenance for three oil changes in the first two years or 24,000 miles with the new model year. It also comes with standard LED headlights and daytime running lights. The Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan were taken off the market earlier this year by Mitsubishi. The Versa is now the only new car that costs less than $20,000. $18,015 and $19,115 were the starting prices for 2024 models. Some new cars cost more than $20,000, which is a resentment, but there are great cars that cost a lot more. To go with the Versa, Nissan also sells the much better Kicks for about $23,000. The Chevy Trax, which made our Editors’ Choice and 10Best lists, starts at just over $21,000, which isn’t too bad for a new car without much money spent on it.
