Land Rover has shared new pictures of the electric SUV being tested in harsh conditions close to the Arctic Circle. These pictures give a hint that the 2025 Range Rover EV will be coming soon. The company says that the EV Range is going through a lot of tests to make sure that the electric engine works right. Land Rover is trying the powertrain in the desert, where it can get as hot as 122 degrees Fahrenheit and as cold as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. The company has dropped some hints about the Range Rover EV to get our attention, but not much is known about it yet. The company says that the new car’s electric drivetrain will make it “even better than its already renowned performance on low-grip surfaces.” In practice, this means that the EV Range can control wheel slips for certain electric motors instead of the traction control system working only with the anti-lock brakes. The company says that the change cuts the time it takes for each wheel to react to pressure from about 100 ms to 1 ms. Since this is the case, the electric range will likely have a lot of motors. Land Rover says it has made new software that lets it precisely control each wheel. This suggests that the car might have a drive unit at each corner. The news isn’t really a surprise since the car company has already said that the Range Rover EV will perform about the same as the V-8. Today, the top-of-the-line SV has a powerful V-8 engine that makes 606 horsepower. Unfortunately, Land Rover won’t be able to confirm the Range Rover EV’s price and power specs until a lot closer to delivery.
