Seven significant manufacturers are building 30,000 EV fast-charging stations in North America. According to the agreement between BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Stellantis, the first charging stations will open in the US in the summer of 2024, followed by Canada. These chargers support CCS and Tesla’s NACS connectors. Mercedes-Benz and General Motors plan to use these NACS connections soon. ChargePoint and Volkswagen Group’s Electrify America will also use NACS soon. The joint company and completion date of the 30,000 charger network are unknown. The makers say the stations will be in towns along roadways and contain numerous DC fast-charging ports. “Flagship stations” will have “additional amenities.” Automakers said the charging network will operate with their apps and navigation capabilities. Route planning, integrated payment, and billing reservations are possible.
