Shelby American’s new GT350 and GT350R both have a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine that makes 810 and 830 horsepower, respectively. The GT350R is a street-legal track toy with abundant carbon fiber, bold aerodynamics, and a built-in roll cage. The newest GT350 isn’t made by Ford, but it will be sold by Ford dealers and come with Ford’s powertrain guarantee. The supercharged GT350 starts at $109,999. The first Ford Mustang, named after the famous Carroll Shelby, came out almost 60 years ago today. It was called the Shelby GT350. This was the first of many high-performance sports cars to be called Shelby. Even though the name “Shelby GT350” is back, this scary car is not made by Ford. The new GT350 comes from Shelby American, which is a branch of Shelby’s main shop. It’s no surprise that the new GT350 is pretty fast. The supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine in the Mustang sits behind the vented hood. It made 500 horsepower in the Mustang Dark Horse and an amazing 810 horsepower in the GT350. The Voodoo engine, a naturally aspirated flat-plane-crank 5.2-liter V-8 engine, made 526 horsepower in the Mustang Shelby GT350. This model was taken off the market after the 2020 model year. The Shelby American GT350 also has a meaner mug with more intakes and grilles under its furrowed face, a new exhaust system, and a different suspension. The huge wing that sticks out from the trunk lid shows that it is a serious car. Shelby American will sell the GT350 with 480 horsepower instead of the 810 horsepower that comes with the blower. There will be both manual and automatic transmissions to choose from. Shelby American will also make a GT350R that can be driven on the street and on the track. It has over 830 horsepower, so the fun doesn’t end there. The GT350R only comes with a six-speed manual transmission, but it does come with a carbon-fiber interior tub, carbon-fiber race seats with harnesses, and other trim made of the same lightweight material. The package includes a more aerodynamic shape, better brakes, a built-in roll cage, and adjustable track suspension. Many of the GT350R’s parts will also be used in a Trans Am-spec race car for the 2026 season. In 2025, Shelby American plans to sell 562 GT350s, the same number of cars it sold in 1965. For $109,999, you can get the GT350 with a supercharger. Sales will only happen at certain Ford stores. Sales will take place at a select Ford dealerships, with production starting in the second quarter of this year. Shelby American offers a warranty that lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, and the Ford powertrain protection will still apply. The company Turn Key Automotive/Motorsports, which is based in Michigan, will only make 36 GT350Rs, the same number that were made in 1965. You can choose different stripes and images, but the version that is ready for the track will be white. The price of the GT350R has not been set yet.
