• The Hyundai Inster is a cheap electric car that will be sold in Europe and Asia.
  • The Mitsubishi Mirage is longer than this small car, but it has a range of more than 200 miles.
  • Inside the Monster, there are two 10.3-inch screens and a lot of tactile buttons.

For most of the last ten years, electric cars have been much more expensive than cars that run on gasoline. More lately, though, there has been a push for cheaper options. The Volvo EX30, the Chevy Equinox EV, and the Fiat 500e are just a few examples of this. Hyundai has joined the race with the Monster. The small electric car was shown off today at the 2024 Busan Auto Show. The cute electric vehicle will not be for sale in the United States, which is a shame.

Small electric cars like the Hyundai Inster may drive over 200 miles on a battery

Small SUV

It’s very small inside. It’s 150.6 inches long, which is a little shorter than the Mitsubishi Mirage. Many of its style cues come from the gas-powered Casper crossover, which is only sold in South Korea, even though its body and wheelbase are much longer.

The broad spherical headlights on the Inster, hidden behind a black mask on the front bumper, give it a beautiful and dynamic look. This is topped off by a black strip with a Hyundai logo and robotic moving lights made of pixels. The sharp lines on the fenders make a strong visual statement, and the taillights bring back the idea of pixels. The two-tone paint job will stand out against the black roof.

The Inside of the Monster has a 10.3-inch touchscreen and a digital set of instruments. Still, the center console has a lot of physical buttons and a charging pad that doesn’t require wires. The Hyundai Inster comes with a front bench seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, which are standard features. All of the seats can be folded flat as well. To make things look better, the LED atmospheric lighting can be changed to 64 different colors. Hyundai makes a big deal out of using eco-friendly materials. The shiny black paint on the outside is made from used tires, and the inside is covered with a material made from used plastic bottles.

Information about the engine

The Inster’s engine is average by today’s EV standards. The Hyundai comes with a 42.0-kWh battery, but customers can choose to upgrade to a Long-Range 49.0-kWh cell. There is only one electric motor that powers all Insters. The regular model makes 95 horsepower, and the Long Range model makes 113 horsepower. Both types have 108 pound-feet of power.

Hyundai says the Long Range model has a range of 221 miles on Europe’s WLTP test run, which is more helpful. The Monster can be charged at up to 120 kW, going from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes with a DC fast charger. An 11.0-kW onboard charger is normal, and a heat pump is available as an extra. The Monster also has 110-volt and 220-volt outlets for connecting and charging other devices. Along with these features, the Monster has a lot of features that help the driver.

The Inster will be shown for the first time in South Korea this summer. Europe, the Middle East, and the rest of Asia will then see more sales. The Inster’s small size will keep it from ever getting to American soil. Hyundai is going to make an Inster Cross version in the future that will have a “rugged, outdoor-focused design.”
