This weekend, the Dodge Hornet, the brand’s first electric car, will race in the Nitrocross Series. During the ten-race season, Dodge will run four Hornet-branded rallycross cars in the Group E class. Lia Block will drive one of them. She is the first woman in her class to compete.

This season, Dodge is working with the famous Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (DRR) racing team. For the last two years, DRR has won both the driver and team titles in Neocross Group E. The Hornet R/T FC1-X is the name of the new race car.

Sort of, The Dodge Hornet is going Racing

Even though it looks the same as its regular PHEV brother, the FC1-X’s drivetrain and base make it stand out. The four axial flux motors that power the FC1-X cars on the Nitrocross grid make a total of 800 kW or 1,070 horsepower. Coming from a stop, the rally cars can reach 60 mph in 1.4 seconds and produce almost 2g of force.

The electric rallycross car has race-tuned parts, such as a carbon-fiber chassis tub, adjustable front and back anti-roll bars, an Alcon braking system, and a tubular chassis. The front and back double wishbone R53 suspension lets you change the camber and caster and has a wheel travel range of 12 inches.

Robin Larsson (Sweden), Fraser McConnell (Jamaica), and Andres Bakkerud (Norway), who has won two championships, will also drive Dodge’s first electric rally cars. Block is the only woman racing this season, and she is also the first driver in Group E. At only 17, she is also the youngest person in her class who will be running. Lia loves racing and wants to make her racing history so that she can remember her late father. The Nitrocross Series Championship Trophy is given to Ken Block.

This weekend at Richmond Raceway in Virginia is the first race of the 2024–2025 Nitrocross season. Larsson’s DDR team came in first and third in Round 1 on Saturday, with McConnell in third place. Out of the eight students in the class, Block came in sixth, and Bakkerud came in seventh. Today is the last day of Round 2. There are still three races left, in Salt Lake City, Phoenix, and Miami, before the finals in Las Vegas. Fox will show the show for the whole season.
