• The new front end of the 2025 Ford Maverick can be seen after it has been shown off.
  • The blacked-out grille and big lower air intake on this small truck give it a sharper look.
  • The black “turbofan” wheels stand out.

When the hybrid Maverick came out in 2022, Ford got back into the small truck business. Ford could bring its popular truck up to date by 2025. Spy pictures show a fully customized, sporty-looking Maverick driving while the driver is naked. This could mean that the long-rumored performance variant, the Lobo, is finally here.

Spied Ford Maverick 2025 in Sporty Trim Faced

The new headlights are the most noticeable change in this Maverick concept, which will become a real truck. The headlights used to be shaped like a C around a horizontal grille trim piece that held the turn signal. Now, they quickly turn into an L shape with a hook.

This concept looks more sporty than the Maverick because it has a blacked-out grille with vertical slats. The new Ford logo, which was first seen on the F-150, is on the hood. The fog lights and big air intake are on the front bumper, under a truck-wide trim piece. The radar devices in the lower grille point to better technology for helping the driver.

This sleek Maverick is different from older models because the bed rails, front bumper, side sills, and back bumper are all body colors. It also has a black roof. The new wheels are the first thing that stands out. The black 19-inch aero disc looks mean, like the OZ Racing rollers on Ford rally cars like the Escort RS Cosworth. Ford showed off a sneak peek of these “turbofan” wheels at SEMA 2021, along with a Maverick that had been customized by Tucci Hot Rods.

The name of the sportier Maverick might come from the ST badge and the name “Lobo,” which Ford registered as a brand the year before. The sports version could be a Maverick series package like the Tremor off-road pack on the Lariat and XLT. The front fender of this prototype had a Lariat logo on it.

If everything goes well, this flashy Maverick will make more. The hybrid engine we have now has 191 horsepower, but a four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 250 horsepower can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. It would be great to have a manual drive, but we’re keeping everything in there. The new version of Maverick should come out later this year.
