The 2024 Ford E-Transit passenger van will have a bigger battery and an extra charger on board to speed up charging. Ford says that the new battery increases range by 26% for low-roof models and 32% for high-roof models. It has a usable capacity of 89.0 kWh. With a DC fast charger, the second charger on board the Transit can add about 67 miles to the range in 15 minutes. This is because it speeds up the charging process. Ford has made some changes to the 2024 E-Transit cargo van’s inside, but they don’t show on the outside. Ford has improved the popular work van’s maximum range by adding a bigger battery pack under the vehicle. This also makes charging go faster overall. Changes to make E-Transit better A new 89.0-kWh battery pack was put in place of the old 68.0-kWh one. Ford says that this makes the low-roof model of the E-Transit’s estimated range 159 miles longer. This number is 26% higher than it was in 2023, which may not seem like a lot. The number of types with raised roofs has grown by 32%. Ford thinks that the 2023 E-Transit long-roof vehicles will be able to go 108 miles, which is about 143 miles and is a 32% rise. The 2024 E-Transit should charge a lot faster than older models, even though the battery is bigger. The E-Transit can now charge at a high output of 176 kilowatts, up from 115 kW for the previous van since a second charger was added. The charging speed goes up because of this. Ford says that a DC fast charger with 180 kW or more can add 67 miles to the range of the low-roof van in 15 minutes. With the release of a new NACS adapter, the E-Transit can now connect to Tesla’s Supercharger network. It joins the Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning as cars that can use a lot more chargers. Ford also says that the engine in the E-Transit will not be changed in 2024. Each model has a single motor that drives the back wheels and makes 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.
