• Priced at $85,050, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance will hit American car lots this spring.
  • The plug-in hybrid high-performance car has a four-cylinder engine that looks like it was made for Formula 1. It makes 671 horsepower.
  • We had great experiences with the C63 when we tried it in the south of France. It went from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 121 mph in 11.2 seconds.

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG C63 is a sportier version of Mercedes’ famous C-class car. It starts at $48K and has a very good 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The AMG has a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor, a supercharger, and a special 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine. It looks like something out of Formula One. This setup makes 671 horsepower and 752 lb-ft of torque. For the first year, the new C63 S E Performance costs $85,050, which is $7,800 more than the V-8-powered C63 S car that was only made for the 2021 model year. This price increase also changes where the C starts.

It sounds like the ’24 AMG C63 S will be on sale very soon since Mercedes says it will happen this spring. In addition to the PHEV setup that was already mentioned, the standard model has better brakes, an AMG-specific chassis with adaptive dampers, an all-wheel-drive system with a drift mode, and rear-axle steering that can turn up to 3 degrees. It’s still a high-end sedan, with choices like a Burmester sound system, Nappa leather seats, and lighting that can be changed to suit your needs.

It costs an extra $2050 ($87.00) to go up to the Pinnacle trim level. According to Mercedes, this gives the C63 access to extra features such as projections for the “Digital Light” system, better video for the guidance system, and an AMG-only head-up display.

Early this year, we tested the new C63 S in the south of France. We like how clever its F1-inspired drivetrain is, but we wish it had made us feel more strongly. The sedan still has great speed numbers: it takes 2.9 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph and 11.2 seconds to go 121 mph in a quarter-mile.
