• This year’s Toyota Tacoma costs $32,995, which is $2,000 more than the last one.
  • The famous SR5, which now starts at $37,695, has a much better engine, which more than makes up for the higher price. The $43,295 TRD Off-Road costs $2,610 more.
  • It costs more to buy other Toyota cars now, but we can say for sure that the higher price is worth it after testing the new fourth-generation truck.

For the first time in almost twenty years, Toyota has completely remade the Tacoma. Along with giving us our first look at the new fourth-generation car, the company also announced the price of its very popular mid-size truck. Even though it costs thousands more than before, the 2024 Tacoma’s big changes make up for its higher price.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is well worth the extra money, which starts at $32,995

Tacos that cost more

The base level for the Tacoma line is still the SR trim level. With a base price of $32,995, it costs $2900 more than the one that came before it, which cost $30,095 base price. Though the price has gone up a lot, keep in mind that this fourth-generation Tacoma is built on a brand-new wooden ladder frame. For the 2016 model year, big changes were made to the previous generation, but many parts from the 2005 Tacoma stayed the same. That’s $2200 more for the crew-cab SR, which is also called the Double Cab in Toyota-speak. It costs $ 3,200 more for four-wheel drive as well.

All SR types now come with a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that makes 228 horsepower. This engine has replaced the old and inefficient 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. It comes basic with 159 horsepower and can be upgraded to 278 horsepower with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. From the new truck, the starting price of a rear-wheel-drive 2023 Tacoma SR dropped to $32,335. This is a $660 savings. It also doesn’t come with the new Taco’s eight-speed automatic engine or the upgraded six-speed manual with rev-matching technology.

The base price for the Tacoma SR5, which is the most common type, is now $37,695. There is a basic four-cylinder model from last year that costs $5,810 less, but this one has new powertrains, like the SR. It also has a base 2.4-liter turbo-four engine that makes 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque with an automatic transmission and 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with a manual transmission. The real price difference between the new and old SR5 is $2365 when compared to the retired V-6.

The SR5 starts at $38,695 for the crew-cab model. Because they have less advanced rear leaf springs, the SR and “XtraCab” models ride a little rougher than the new coil-spring back suspension. These can also be found on the updated Tacoma TRD PreRunner, which starts at $39,595 and comes with off-road gear, two doors, and two seats as standard.

Prices for TRD Off-Road and Sport Vehicles

As their names suggest, the 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road models are made to appeal to certain types of fans. The Sport is still meant to be driven on the street, even though it was based on the SR5. The extended cab used to cost $37,005, but it’s no longer for sale. The crew cab now costs $38,260. The base price for a 2019 TRD Sport Double Cab is $40,895. The total cost is $ 3,200, which includes the $800 cost of the automatic gear. It costs $500 more to switch from the standard five-foot cargo bed to the six-footer that is offered.

Like the last one, every new TRD Off-Road comes with a crew-cab body style and four-wheel drive as standard. It now starts at $43,295 and costs $3875 more than it did before. The newest TRD Off-Road model has better gear, including 33-inch BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A tires, Bilstein external reservoir dampers, and an optional front anti-roll bar disconnect that lets the wheels move around more. It also has a better engine. It costs an extra $1100 for the automatic transmission and $500 more for the bigger bed.

The Best Tacomas

The Tacoma Limited, which starts at $53,595, has the most impressive outside and inside looks, as well as the biggest and best technology inside. It’s a huge $10,745 more than before, but the new price includes all-wheel drive and a single-length cargo bed. To top it all off, it’s the only Tacoma with chrome wheels, a head-up display, motorized running boards, luxury headlights, and dampers that can be adjusted.

The Limited is the most expensive and flashiest Tacoma grade right now, but when Toyota shows off the new Trailhunter and TRD Pro models later this year, it will no longer be the case. Both haven’t been priced yet, but they’ll start around $55,000 to $65,000 based on how much the rest of the range has gone up in price.
