Order banks are now open for law enforcement agencies across the country to place orders for the 2025 Ford Expedition SSV (Special Service Vehicle). The second-generation Expedition’s civilian and SSV versions feature several shared updates, including a 24.0-inch dashboard display. You can choose between the basic Expedition SSV with two rows and the Expedition Max SSV with three rows. Law enforcement agencies across the country now have another way to move cops and prisoners. Orders are now being taken for the 2025 Ford Expedition SSV, which is similar to the newly released 2025 Explorer PIU but has bright red and blue emergency lights. The second-generation Expedition SSV is a lot like its predecessor in many ways. This isn’t true for the Explorer, which has been greatly changed from its civilian form. To begin with, the Expedition SSV comes in two different sitting configurations: the standard two-row model and the longer Expedition Max, which has a third row that can be folded down and retracted in a 60/40 split. According to Ford, the powered third row is made to fit both people and things. The split gate in the back of the full-size SUV lets officers carry up to 500 pounds with the lower tailgate or just open the hatch to get to tools quickly. The Expedition SSV’s interior is almost identical to that of the basic model. For example, the police version has a 24-inch display on the dashboard that houses the video game controller and digital gauges. The center console has been rearranged to make room for computers, radios, and other police devices. This is the biggest improvement. All Expedition SSVs come with a Ford twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The customer Expedition comes with a higher-output engine, but all SSVs have 400 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is also on the police version. When properly equipped, the Ford Expedition SSV can pull up to 9,600 pounds behind it thanks to Ford’s range of trailer-assist technologies. With the longer-wheelbase version, the trailer can carry up to 600 pounds less weight.
