• The 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility was just released. It has new technology that makes driving safer and life better overall.
  • The hybrid drivetrain is still stock on the Interceptor, even though it has been taken out of the production Explorer.
  • The approved speedometer is also part of the new 12.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster.

Ford stopped making the Explorer with the 3.3-liter V-6 hybrid engine after the 2023 model year. We’re happy to say that Ford Pro has shown off the 2025 Police Interceptor Utility, which will still come in a hybrid version.

The 2025 Ford Police Interceptor will keep its hybrid powertrain

It has a normally aspirated V-6 engine with 285 horsepower and an electric motor with 44 horsepower, for a total of 318 horsepower. A lot of the time, officers are out in the field doing routine tasks like controlling traffic and enforcing speed limits. During this time, they either do not do anything or drive slowly. When this happens, the hybrid battery can handle most of the time that the engine is not being used. Since gas costs $3.50 a gallon, Ford says the hybrid system can save up to 838 gallons of gas a year. That’s a savings of $17,500 over six years. For those who don’t want a hybrid, the 3.3-liter V-6 engine with 285 horsepower and the 3.0-liter V-6 turbocharged engine with 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque are back.

There are new features on the 2025 Interceptor that will make officers’ lives better and their work easier. A new 12.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster with a certified speedometer has been added to help police see the information better while they are driving.

The Police Perimeter Alert system is one of the basic features that has been made better. Ford says that it can lock the doors, roll up the windows, sound the chime, turn on the back camera, and find moving items around the car. Driver safety technology has grown over the years to include things like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic warning, parking sensors in the back, and reverse brake assist.
