• New spy pictures show that the 2025 GMC Terrain’s exterior and interior have been changed. The car is getting a new look.
  • The Terrain’s third version has a boxier shape, a large touchscreen that stands upright, and a digital cluster of gauges, all of which were first seen on the 2024 GMC Acadia.
  • We expect both the Terrain and the new 2025 Chevy Equinox to have the same 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 175 horsepower. They share a base.

Chevy hinted that a new GMC Terrain was also in the works when they showed off the updated 2025 Equinox earlier this year. Since the Terrain replaced the Pontiac Torrent in 2010, GM’s two small SUVs have been built on the same base. For the first time, we can see the outside and inside of the 2025 GMC Terrain thanks to pictures our spy photographer took. These pictures have yet to be made public.

A bigger screen size

It will have a big tablet that is tilted vertically, like the picture at the end of this article. It looks a lot like the way the 2024 GMC Acadia was first equipped. This means that the Terrain’s main screen, which has a row of toggle switches and static HVAC settings, will likely be 15 inches across. The same working system based on Google will also be available, with settings that can be changed and apps that can be downloaded. The new Terrain will also have a digital set of gauges, which could be the same 11.0-inch one that is in the Acadia.

On our Terrain spy shots, there are stalks on either side of the steering column. The right side should have the gear shifter. The steering wheel has a thick rim and is wrapped in leather. Our team doesn’t know what trim level the fake car is, but if it’s the top-of-the-line Denali, we can see that the steering wheel doesn’t have the light strip that lets you use GM’s Super Cruise hands-free system.

More slim body type

The spy photos we have show us little about the outside of the 2025 GMC Terrain. But even the purposely confusing body wrap can’t hide the fact that the new model looks bigger and more angular than the old one. This makes sense because GMC used the same method for the new Acadia. In fact, the front ends of both cars will look very much alike, with the Terrain probably copying the more current C-shaped lighting. The spy pictures also show a big grille with horizontal bars and what looks like lower air vents.

We’ll know a lot more about the 2025 Terrain’s trim levels, available extras, and powertrains when GMC shows it off later this year. Most likely, it will have the same 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that comes standard on the 25-inch Chevy Equinox and makes 175 horsepower. This engine can also be paired with either an all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission or a front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The 2017 Terrain starts at $31,000 to $32,000, and the Denali trim costs more than $40,000. This doesn’t surprise us, but we will know for sure once the prices are released.
