• The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid came in both hatchback and car styles, and Honda showed us both up close.
  • The Civic Hybrid will have two electric motors and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been changed from the Accord Hybrid. This engine will make 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque.
  • Honda says that the Civic car will get over 50 mpg when it comes out in June, and the hatchback will come out later in the summer.

Honda hasn’t sold a hybrid Civic in eleven years, but the eco-friendly car will be back for the 2025 model year. Honda just released detailed pictures of the 2025 Civic Hybrid in both sedan and hatchback body styles, along with some basic information about the car. The number of trim versions for the 2019 Civic has been decreased. The EX and EX-L have been taken off the market, leaving only the LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has more power and almost 50 MPG

Now you can get a Civic Hybrid

The Accord has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors, which have been improved for the new Civic Hybrid. Honda expects the hybrid Civic to have 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque, 40 more than the Civic Si after speed tuning. With 310 pound-feet, only the track-spec Civic Type R has more power.

The LX and Sport models that aren’t hybrids have an old 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower. The more agile 1.5-liter turbo four with 180 horsepower has been taken out. The Sport and Sport Touring hatchbacks no longer come with the manual transmission choice that was there before.

Honda says the Civic Hybrid will get about 50 mpg, but the EPA has yet to approve it. The Accord Hybrid gets 51 mpg in the city and 48 mpg on the highway, which is in line with this. But our long-term hybrid Accord could have lived up to that expectation. In our highway fuel economy test at 75 mph, it got only 39 mpg.

A body-colored accent under the headlights unique to hybrids distinguishes two types of Civics. Every car in the 2025 range gets a new lower front lip and fascia, and the Civic’s rear end also gets a new look with darker taillights.

Having a striking gray interior color can help hybrid cars stand out from the rest. The Sport Hybrid comes with extras that other grades don’t, like a sunroof, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate controls. It also has double-pane glass to cut down on noise. If you choose the Sport Touring Hybrid, it comes with a bigger 9.0-inch touchscreen screen that works with Google and a 12-speaker Bose system. The bigger screen also works wirelessly with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

We’ll have to wait a little longer because Honda hasn’t said how much all of the 2025 Civic models will cost yet. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long. The hatchback is set to come out later this summer, and the car will be available in June. Honda clearly wants people to buy the Civic hybrid, just like it does with the Accord and the CR-V small SUV.
