The 2025 Jeep Wrangler is once again available with a V-6 engine and an automatic transmission. Before, Jeep got rid of that powertrain combination, leaving only a six-speed manual gearbox option. Jeep says popular demand led to the return of the V-6 Wrangler’s eight-speed automatic, now offered as a $4500 option. To get a 2025 Jeep Wrangler with a V-6 engine for a short time, you had to settle for one with a manual transmission and three wheels. After planning to get rid of the V-6 models with automatic transmissions, the Jeep changed its mind and brought back the available eight-speed transmission in response to public anger. Jeep enthusiasts were clearly dissatisfied that the Wrangler was limited to the 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. According to a statement issued today by Bob Broderdorf, senior vice president and head of Jeep North America, the decision to reinstate an automatic V-6 powertrain was made in “response to enthusiastic requests.” The 2025 Jeep Wrangler comes equipped with a Pentastar V-6 engine and a six-speed manual transmission as standard features. The two-door model starts at $33,990, while the four-door model starts at $38,590. Jeep says that choosing automatic will cost an extra $4500. When you compare the prices, the V-6 manual costs $2500 less than the 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine with 270 horsepower that only works with the automatic. The 470-hp V-8-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392 and the plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe are also being made in what looks like its last year of production. Each only comes with one automatic.
