25 years from now, when the current generation Lexus IS turns twelve, it will be the model’s silver anniversary. That’s right, Lexus is skipping the fancy linen and going for a knickknack anniversary, or maybe a yellow one, instead of the traditional silk gifting material for 12th anniversaries.

The 2025 Lexus IS Starts At $41,360 And Comes In Sleek Silver And Bright Yellow

It comes in three different styles—the 300, the 350, and the 500—and two levels of sportiness—the F Sport Design and the more expensive F Sport, which, despite its name, adds mostly luxury items. Within the F Sport Design package levels in 2025, a heated steering wheel will be included. Power-folding mirrors are now standard on all ISF Sports autos. Starting in 2025, the base F Sports (300 and 350) will have a power tilting and telescoping steering column, memory settings for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and steering column, and dark chrome window trim as standard. Brand-new 19-inch BBS wheels are also available for the 350 and 500 F Sport models.

The IS 500’s Special Appearance Package is limited to 180 units. It’s painted Flare Yellow and has 19-inch BBS wheels. The Package includes black synthetic leather with suede inserts and yellow stitching.

Powertrain Specifications and Fuel Efficiency

Mercedes-Benz gives the IS three engine choices. It has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive and 241 horsepower. With its eight-speed automatic transmission, it gets 21/31/21 mpg in the city, on the highway, and overall. The EPA’s official estimates have yet to be released. The fuel economy estimates are based on Lexus models. While the engine is labeled as having four cylinders, it actually has a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V-6 that makes 260 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Only a six-speed automatic transmission is available for the 300, which gets 22/26/19 mpg.

The IS 350 clarifies things. The 3.5-liter V-6 engine makes 311 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, and there are two other powertrain choices: an AWD model and an RWD model. Furthermore, rear-wheel-drive cars come standard with eight-speed automatic transmissions, while AWD 350s can get by with six-speed automatics. In the city, highway, and combined driving, the IS 350 gets 23/28/20 mpg with RWD and 22/26/19 mpg with AWD.

The IS 500 follows, with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine. With a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V-8 engine that makes 472 horsepower and 395 pounds-feet of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission sending that power to the back wheels, the Lexus IS 500 is the last naturally aspirated V-8 SUV on the market. According to the EPA, it gets 20/25/17 mpg.

Various Trim Levels

It has 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED exterior lighting, and keyless entry and start. It also has an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa loaded.

Basic IS 350 and IS 300 models come with the F Sport Design trim level. Additionally, a unique grille, spoiler, and exhaust finishers are added, along with 19-inch dark metallic wheels. Each bumper, front and back, looks meaner. The steering wheel and front seats in F Sport Design cars are heated, too.

Only the F Sport Performance and F Sport Performance Premium trim levels have aluminum pedals, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a better instrument panel, heated and ventilated front sport seats, and special interior trim.

The IS 500 F Sport Performance Premium model has a moonroof, a domed hood, 19-inch Enkei wheels, a Torsen limited-slip differential, adaptive suspension, and two-piece brake rotors that are 12.7 inches in the back and 14 inches in the front. Both front and back parking sensors are also fitted. The 10.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, Mark Levinson sound, a 360-degree camera system, and better headlights are all standard on the IS 500 F Sport Performance Premium model.

Features for Enhanced Safety

All 2025 Lexus IS cars come with the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 as standard equipment. This set of features includes automatic emergency braking, emergency steering assistance, adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention and tracing assistance, automatic high beams, road sign recognition, and forward collision warning with detection of pedestrians and cyclists. Only the base model, the F Sport, and the F Sport Design come with blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alerts as standard.
