  • The prices will be made public later this year.

Mercedes-Benz now sells five electric passenger cars in the United States, and sales are going up. Mercedes, on the other hand, is adding more hybrid cars to help buyers get used to electric cars before fully switching to electric power in ten years. The German car company has said that it will sell the 2025 GLC350e, a plug-in hybrid form of its small GLC-class crossover. Later this year, the new model will be out for purchase.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC350e Plug-In Hybrid can go about 70 miles on a single charge

The plug-in GLC has a 24.8-kWh battery and a fixed excited synchronous motor that makes 134 horsepower. Mercedes wouldn’t say anything else about the gas engine, but it’s a tweaked version of the GLC300’s 2.0-liter, 201-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The hybrid system can give all four wheels 313 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds.

Based on the WLTP test run in Europe, Mercedes says the electric range is about 81 miles. However, we think the real range will be closer to 70 miles based on how the EPA tests cars. The GLC350e can go as fast as 135 mph with the gas engine. When running on electricity alone, it can reach 87 mph. Mercedes says that the GLE350e can reach the maximum 100 kW of regeneration more often when stopping than a system that only uses hydraulic brakes because it has an electronic brake booster.

Mercedes says that it can take about 30 minutes to charge the battery over a DC link at a maximum of 60 kW. The GLC can charge with a maximum of 11 kW of AC power, and Mercedes has said that starting with the 2025 model year, the GLC will use a charge port that looks like a CCS. The company plans to switch to the NACS charge port next year, just like Tesla has done.

The GLC350e looks a lot like its gas-powered siblings from the outside, and the 11.9-inch tablet in the middle and the 12.3-inch digital gauge display inside are also very similar. The plug-in hybrid from Mercedes will come with keyless entry, blind spot aid, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats as standard. The Exclusive trim level adds a birds-eye view camera and a Burmester surround sound system. The Pinnacle trim level improves entertainment with a head-up display, heat and noise-isolating glass, and music and video streaming.

The GLC350e will also come with “Mercedes me Charge,” a program that connects charging points from ChargePoint, Electrify America, and EVgo into a single network. Mercedes says this makes it easier to pay and helps owners find more than 60,000 charging spots across the country. Mercedes also gives you an RFID card that you can use at public charging sites. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC350e will have a price list ready as soon as it hits the market.
