• Volkswagen said that the all-new 2025 Golf R will go on sale on June 26.
  • The changes to the 2025 Golf GTI’s looks are the same as those seen in earlier teasing photos.
  • In addition, the Golf R could make more power than its standard 315 horsepower.

Volkswagen has enhanced the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI’s speed and aesthetics and introduced a new 12.9-inch touchscreen to the interior. The company has tantalized us with a camouflaged prototype of the updated Golf R. Now, the much-anticipated moment has arrived—the Golf R will be unveiled on June 26.

The 2025 Volkswagen Golf R will be shown off later this month

Accompanying the announcement of the reveal date is a teaser image that showcases the distinctive headlights, an LED light bar, and the illuminated Volkswagen logo. The new headlights on the 2019 GTI mirror those in the pre-reveal pictures. The taillights also sport the same design. The R features larger front bumper holes and a rear spoiler, not just for a powerful aesthetic but also to ensure optimal engine cooling.

The old car had annoying haptic touch-sensitive controls. The new car will have the same improvements to the cabin as the GTI, like a new screen, better navigation, and real buttons on the steering wheel. The 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine in the Golf R, which makes 315 horsepower now, could get more power, just like the GTI. VW got rid of the manual transmission for the 2024 model year, which means that the 2025 Golf R will only come with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
