Honda has confirmed that an updated version of the CR-V crossover will be unveiled later this year, with its release planned for the 2026 model year. The 2026 CR-V will also have a TrailSport type designed for off-road driving and a tough look. Honda announced that it will update its HR-V small SUV this year. In 2024, Honda’s total sales went up by 11%, with truck and SUV sales rising by 16%. The CR-V was the main competitor, with sales increasing by 11% to 402,791 units last year. Honda announced today that it will launch a new off-road model called TrailSport along with the new CR-V this year, building on its previous success. The new Honda CR-V will be available for the 2026 model year, while the current sixth-generation model will start selling in 2023. Honda hasn’t mentioned any specific changes, but we expect the 2019 crossover to have a more modern interior and some small updates to its front and back design. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine has 190 horsepower, and the CR-V Hybrid has 204 horsepower. The engines are expected to stay mostly the same. Honda also claims that the TrailSport option will give the CR-V a “rugged appearance.” It’s not clear how many off-road features the CR-V TrailSport will have, but the best current TrailSport model is the new Honda Passport TrailSport. It will be available in February and comes with steel skid plates, all-terrain tires, and a special suspension system. Honda has said that the smaller HR-V and the updated CR-V will get a new look in 2025. Honda plans to launch the updated subcompact car in 2026, featuring improvements in design and technology. Before the end of 2025, Honda will launch a new electric coupe called the Prelude. The exact times for the 2026 Honda models coming out are unknown, but the new versions of the CR-V and HR-V are expected to be fully revealed in the next few months.
